Not sure if there is a specific post discussing the Board.

Plenty of discussion about the board needing to take accountability for our current plight. Here is a morsel of an example that aggravated me yesterday.

Played golf with a well connected/respected AFL contributor.

Shared that the AFL were involved in our recent search for a new CEO. During the process a 'respected CEO' was encouraged to meet with Carlton and members of its board.

After meeting half of the board, the said 'respected CEO' fed back to the AFL that there wasn't a hope in hell they could work for Carlton.

A number of concerns with that story.

Cheers for the insight london; 'The Fish Rots at the Top' thread was intended as a board/administration discussion.

The board are our biggest issue. Have been for a decade.

We can sack the coach, get a new CEO etc but it's shuffling the deck chairs. FWIW London I have heard similar comments over the past few years.

The Board are a bunch of self serving muppets. All about there own egos. Until a new board is in we will struggle. We still think we can buy our way to success. Idiots.

Mick deserves criticism but he has been shafted by a shoddy club the way Pagan & Ratten were. Recruiting & Football Management are a joke. Average people are appointed and overpaid. I have hope for SOS but where is the process? McKay was another job for old boys. Not good enough.

Where is the accountability?

I have spoken to a number of recruiters over the past 2-3 years who cannot see any reasoning for what we do. The Jones decision is just an example. Offer a 3 year deal to a player struggling in the reserves at a poor club!

No matter what happens with MM I believe there is worse to come yet?

We need to best in Football Management, Recruiting, Fitness & Coaching and we need to go thorough process to get them.

With the departure of MM there needs to be major re-structure of the football dept, coaching, development but there should be plenty in the budget to get this right from scratch (but the issue will be the executive in charge of this being A. McKay, the board and A.Gleeson).

Interesting to get an update of what's happening with SOS and the recruitment team?

We will never attract the right people to our club, we attract ego driven self service muppets. Birds of a feather and all that ...

You may be good in recycling, hotels and pokies, whatever the Frieds do, etc. etc. But CFC shows it doesn't mean you can't be pathetic at modern footy. Would someone please tell those dills that.

Brian Cook pretty much said the same thing after he spoke to the club prior to the Swann appointment.

I'm paraphrasing, but his quotes were along the lines of they - as in the club - have different philosophies than he in regards to running a club. Went on to say we are only interested in a quick fix, and wouldn't take to kindly to his methods.

How true.

In the old days you could get a hundred sigs without too much trouble but now the only way the grassroots fans can force change is through starving them of revenue.
It's the only thing they need to maintain control, so take it from them.

The 100 signatures clause is still in the constitution; 5% of the voting members or 100, whichever is the smaller sum.

Needs to be delivered to the club with all the names, membership numbers and signatures. But you need to state the order of business for calling the meeting.

Im lad for the first time in ages, more than just a few people are starting to question the Board.
Plenty of the season still to come for more and more pressure to be put on them.
Even some media pundits are starting to question our Board.
Hope something can be done. We really di need to shake ourselves of this old Carlton quick fix attitude. Trigg gets it, but the Board doesn't.
Now more then ever, is the time to get rid of these mediocre muppets!!!

Same here Jez, sad in one way because I have been a member for a very long time and I do enjoy watching Docherty and Cripps go about their footy but there isn't much more.

Having to watch Jones was my breaking point, nothing against Jones, in fact well done for securing a three year contract on significant more coin than he was when playing in the ressies at the Doggies. Someone needs to be made accountable for the continued stuff ups. I recall when Gunston left Adelaide, the Hawks were well ahead of the crowd and in fact offered the Crows a draft pick after our first pick, by the way we selected Bootsma. Gunston showed what he was capable of in his last year at the Crows but we were all over Bootsma, I'm sure he was another surprise selection to many in the recruiting ranks outside the CFC.

By Sam Edmund in todays' Herald Sun

CARLTON’S dysfunctional board is again under fire, with influential Blues agitating for change.

Besieged coach Mick Malthouse has copped a barrage of criticism for the Blues’ disastrous 1-7 start to the season, but there is renewed angst over the workings of the club’s top brass.

There is a growing feeling among influential Carlton people that the 10-strong panel has grown stale and isn’t fit to lead a club that needs to undergo significant regeneration.

I am genuinally concerned about MLG. Where is the leadership? Everyone from Members, to supporters to the media after asking questions yet nothing. It is a circus at the moment. Would a true President like McGuire, Costa, Kennett etc let this happen? No, there would be action, communication to the supporters and a clear direction.

We have nothing!

that's really good. finally some awareness is being raised at the board and admin levels of the club.

there's hope yet they'll all stand down and allow regeneration to take place.
