Rohan Connolly: "Carlton a fallen empire".

Unfortunately, he is right.

Yes he's right, but as little integrity Carlton has left it still has more than his mob.

He's exactly right. Everyone knows it. The key is what are we doing about it as it's really been the same now for nearly 15 years.

I don't give a sh1t about Essendon*. That's just changing the subject.

In regards to Carlton he is right and we deserve all the criticsm that comes our way. We just don't learn.

Couldn't give a stuff about other clubs.

Right now, we can't just accept this. Hearing from people in the know, there is more pain to come.
Surely we can't just give up and accept this flawed constitution.

How do we orchestrate a spill, inject fresh, un-aligned blood onto the board?

Why can't we use social media as a vehicle to bring these saboteurs to account?

It can turn around quickly with the right people, the right structures and an environment of transparency, accountability, critical reflection and a commitment to adopt best practices in all areas

We seem all resigned to another 5 years of hell.
FLOWER the problems
Let's focus on solutions

I have views but not solutions. Something must be done!!!!!

If there are influential people reading this, get proactive...you'll be surprised how big an army of followers you will have if the message is worth buying.

Right now, that army (me included) are just staying away as a silent protest
Those saboteurs dont give a flower about us and our kids who are falling of the supporting perch.
The next generation of Carlton supporters...who the flower will they be???

Plenty of other threads that highlight what we already know and what we've already said.

And it looks like Rohan Connolly had read everyone of them.

Like I said I don't need him telling me what we already know.

Couldn't give a rats arse what Connolly says at it has no relevance to the club. A hack journo isn't going to fix the @#$%&! malaise that is Carlton. From the El President (who has somehow ensured no one can challenge his position) to the board to coaching staff to some of the lazy players.

They all need to @#$%&! off.

Don't we need the money the current board offers the club?

And that empire is now, at 7:30 pm Sunday 17 May, officially at rock bottom.

Well look on the bright side. We will get the number one draft pick.

Yeah cause that's helped us so much in the past.

We've got three of them already. One has the heart of a pea, the other has no leadership skills and the other can't even get on the park!

Certainly understand the gist of this article and can see the bigger picture for the AFL, but what is the longer term consequence. I can only imagine that longer term the plan is to build the success and therefore support for the new clubs, but surely some of that comes at the cost of the traditional clubs. Already our club is seeing its supporter base evaporate. I'm not blaming the AFL for our situation, I know we are our own worse enemy.

I just wonder if there is a change in consumer preference for a footy product. My son's best mate Barracks for either Fremantle or the Gold Coast (depending on the week). All his mates seem OK with that, even though i am pretty sure he couldn't point out Fremantle on a map, certainly never been there (I think he might have been to the Gold Coast for a holiday). When I was young it all seemed much more tribal and important. I wondered how tragic it would be for the AFL when their new teams are tearing it up but nobody cares, I guess it probably wont matter because they will somehow generate interest anyway. They market the game as if there is some intrinsic value in a contest that makes it worth watching and somehow transcends the base tribal loyalties. I cant comprehend that state as it is so far apart from my own value system that it seems impossible yet the best marketing minds have justified massive investment based on this pretense.

I take no interest in any game unless it has a bearing on Carlton, i can appreciate good teams and players but frankly, unless the Blues are involved I could not give a sh1t. I wouldn't want to go to a game that Carlton wasn't playing in. Any contest seems so much less compelling when there is no emotional investment, I('m not sure i could appreciate the game for its own sake, marvel in the spectacle of a contest that i had no real investment for. i suspect i am a dinosaur, a throwback to a time when beating the other tribe actually meant something. Actually the whole concept of tribe and contest have probably changed and are less relevant anyway. In the coming years we will see a Grand Final where one contrived club takes on another for the ultimate prize. The majority of supporters at the ground and on TV will have no emotional investment in the outcome and most will simply be choosing a team 'on the day'............and that will be OK. Like so much else in the 'disposable society' loyalty on the day will be disposable too. I don't get it and I never will but I guess it's the future.
