Things I really hate about us at the moment:
1) How many times do I have to watch our boys run straight past the opposition player carrying the ball? The classic was Jeremy Cameron in 3rd quarter ducking to try to evade Simon White, only to realise White had no intention of tackling him...
2) do our players have any idea where to run when the opposition has the ball?
3) I'd be very interested to see how much time we spend jogging vs running, compared with other teams. It looks to me like we don't run hard unless we think we are going to either directly get the ball or are going to catch the guy with the ball. Other teams will run hard just to take their opponent away from the play or to put pressure on even if they know they won't catch the ball carrier.
4) sticking a gentle arm out in place of a tackle. And if we do happen to get our arms around them, is there any chance we might consider restricting their arms so they can't get a clean handball of For?? I don't reckon there is a player in the league who wouldn't back themselves to run through a throng of Carlton players.
5) the dicky little handball the flops down to the teammates shins
6) kicks and handballs which force teammates to stop and wait or go backwards to get it. What ever happened to kicking it so the recipient doesn't have to break stride??
Honestly, I think our lack of talent is not the biggest concern and getting better players will not fix the problems that we have. Unfortunately, I'm not convinced that a new coach will have a great effect either. We need a culture transplant.
Let's not kid ourselves, a lack of quality on our list is our biggest concern
It's a woeful list
Think about this: Cameron Wood is currently our number 1 ruckman (I'll leave it at that)
