We need this position filled with a quality candidate. Sos is list manager, who is our person on the ground?
Are we focussing on the data system without people to run it?
We need to focus on filling the recruitment hole so we dont lose another year at the draft table and turn 3-5 year rebuild into 10-15 years of agony

I think we have appointed a recruiter recently who worked under SOS at GWS.

There are 3 recruiters on the same level, one is Air Jordan.

Did we go through a personel process or is this more of the same-appointment of a colleague on gut instinct?
How will this effect this years draft?

SOS made the appointment. No process to it.

GWS seem to have got it right, so not too unhappy with that if that's true.

Seriously some people have no idea about management!
SOS was hired by the board to oversee our recruitment.
He therefore manages the department and makes the relevant recommendations for hiring, firing, etc.
I doubt very much that the board interviews all final candidates, especially at different levels. SOS will make the final appointment and recommendation. He would also be putting his job on the line with appointments such as these. I would assume the board will approve the hire but that would be more a formality.
SOS is doing his job of managing his area, just like McKay and Trigg do!
Micro management went out during the 80's!

I understand everyone wanting a process to each appointment, but honestly, our head of recruitment worked closely with him only months ago and would know if he's a quality operator or not. Many people across many industries are hired in this manner. I don't have any issue with the appointment in this case.

Doesn't matter who is appointed into a position ... Most decisions are taken out of their hands by the powers to be ... Don't be fooled by this talk of a rebuild ... They are going to make every attempt to go the quick fix ... I know this for fact ... It's about the marketing and the $$ to them ... They need the next Juddy ...

My point is if the focus is on rebuilding, the organisation needs to ensure the key "rebuild" personnel are in place.
Losing Rogers without a replacement lined up is bad management. Yes Rogers walked but someone needs to fill the breach or we will lose a draft year 2015

The organisational structure of the department has changed; they didn't lose the guy running it, they lost a little manpower but already had years of reports to work with...

Silvagni is our latest messiah. Just like Malthouse and Pagan before him, they'll let him make all the decisions.
The silver bullet.

Instead of building a structure and placing the best people into it, our formula is always get the messiah and let him build whatever he wants. Nothing changes.

I think the problem is there isn't a delegation of powers.

Do we know this for certain?

The department seems set up to coordinate with the football department and the recruiting heads to table solutions.
