IMO we would have been better to
Get a compensation pick for Murphy particularly
With this years draft
Midfielders like Murphy are in vast quantities
These days
Doesn’t run hard enough defensively
And tackle hard enough

He could be useful in attack
The guy is 31 thi year

Cripps should be captain in 2019
Regardless

I agree keogh, but what example does it set if Captain goes?

We need to be seen (if not actually be) a united club that players want to be loyal to.

This is worth more to us culture wise than a compensation pick likely to land in the high teens or early 20's.

Curious what impact Murphy staying, presumably as captain has on Patrick Cripps, sometimes it’s hard to look up to those less capable once you’ve had the keys to the Cadillac.
I think is you’re going to take the Captaincy off Murph then this was the classic time “to allow him to focus on his body and footy” etc.

Bolton is currently in the position of keeping the players on side so he's not going to risk a fracture by fronting Murph.

Should Murph have sniffed the wind and voluntarily stepped aside ? Yes.

I'd like to think Murph will be tapped at seasons end.

Honestly Cripps if he wants a Title, will continue to lead from the front. Otherwise he won’t get it if he sooks it up.

I’d assume Murph being back won’t bother him.
