Byrne. Fields. Buckley. Yarran. Jaksch. Docherty. Bell. Cripps. Boekhorst. Tutt. Jones. Viojo-Rainbow Smith. Watson. Johnson Casboult. Menzel. Whiley. Graham. Sheehan. Dick. Holman. Compare it to another team building: Dogs Johannisen. Talia. Hunter. Jong. Roughead. Biggs. Wallis. Libba. Dahlhaus. Stevens. Boyd. Honeychurch. Daniel. Stringer. Hrovat. Campbell. Bontempelli. Macrae. Smith. Roberts. Prudden. Cordy. Their mids run 4-5 deeper than us. All good users too not clanger kings KPP all set already. Their spine will be damn strong for years on end Conclusion: blues way behind eight ball. |

Here's the 22 when you use all of the players who are 25 and under to pick from: FB: Byrne Jaksch Fields HB: Sheehan Henderson Tuohy CC: Buckley Docherty Yarran HF: Bell Watson Boekhorst FF: Menzel Casboult Tutt RR: Kreuzer Cripps Whiley Int: Viojo-Rainbow, Graham, Curnow, Jones Not as bad as you made it out to be. Gibbs, Everitt & Ellard miss out by less than 2 months each. |

Obviously our key position stocks could be improved, but in Jaksch and Henderson I think we've got a strong player at each end for another 5-10 years. We can build around them and find an attacking mix that will kick scores and a defensive setup that will restrict the opposition. What we lack is midfield depth, which can make your forwards look better than they are and can also cover gaps in any defence. Those listed midfields aren't AFL quality going forward, and it needs an injection of talent very soon. |

Good comparison Hibbo. Well done. ![]() Gives us a clear picture of where we are in relation to a side that has taken similar steps they we need to follow. These are the players I believe can be very good contributors in the future. What it says to me is that with some smart trading and good draft picks 4 - 5 years to get back into the top 4 is possible. B: Byrne ........... Giles HB: Sheehan Jaksch DVR Foll: Kruezer Whiley ........... C: Docherty Cripps Yarran HF: Menzel ........... Bell F: Smith ........... ............ Int: ????? Maybe: Boekhurst Foster Fields Gowers Graham Key issue seems to be quality depth around the ball and key forwards and a ruckman. Who'd of thought? ![]() |

Gibbs, Everitt & Ellard miss out by less than 2 months each. That's what I think too jimmae. Not bad. Add to that is: $ whatever picks you get for Murphy Gibbs. $ the salary cap space created by Murphy Gibbs $ the salary cap space created by Judd Carrazzo Simpson $ 1st round picks in 2015, 16, 17 $ 2nd round picks in 2015, 16, 17 $ 3rd round picks in 2015, 16, 17 $ uncover a mature age player or 2 from SAFL WAFL etc $ success with a 210cm international rookie from USA $ a couple free agents. $ plus trades for players wanting to come to Carlton or Melbourne the city. 2017-18 doesn't look too bad. We aren't broken. MM didn't do his homework against WCE, and his game plan vs Richmond and Essendon* cost us Imo. |

I like him and the way he goes about it but I think he has too many flaws to be a good AFL player. |

I think BB with an engine and Bucks with a stronger body will be good. Fields and Gowers show promise. Shiel or two his type can be pinched 2015-16. Boyd was a target, and I'm sure we are looking around....ruck/forward. Hibbo's Dogs team is a team that has made the hard calls. Who knows, but Casboult might learn to kick like Stewie Lowe and Earl Spalding did after they turned 27... That's the bit of luck we would like to come our way. It ain't all that bad. It's a renaissance with replacements of old stock rather than a total rebuild. |
