A more competitive performance.
Cripps played well, but needs to finish in front of the big sticks.
Byrne was great when he came on. Keep playing him.
Armfield gives us plenty. I wasn't sure about his selection, but he gives us genuine speed and attack on the footy and the man with the footy.
Henderson was better. When we have some free flowing movement he looks great.
Wood stepped up after being embarrassed last week.

Our disposal is disappointing, as is our decision making off half back and into the forward 50.
Dominated the clearances but clearly get beaten on the outside and in space.
Missing Yarran next week will hurt and I hope Gibbs doesn't get cited for his bump on Goddard.

Lastly, whilst not a spectacular game, at least Murphy stepped up somewhat.

By my reckoning, they had seven free kicks for goal.
Had we kicked straight in the last, we win.
MM can use that to save face.
The Irish kid will be a player.
Cripps will be one.
Murphy had 30 possessions but I was surprised to hear that. They weren't telling possessions but good on him for getting his hands on it at least.
Wood did well, which says something about the Essendon* rucking division.
Bell does some good things but that 50 in the last undid most of them.
Docherty will be a player
Armfield should play next week.
Rowe looks out of his depth.
I think Casboult might get dropped. He has so much potential but tonight he was very quiet and didn't seem to spend any real minutes in the forward line.
Walker will be better for the run but he should pay forward.
Yarran won the fight but won't play next week. Chapman has a glass jaw and they exploited the concussion rule to prove they will stoop to everything.

They drive me to distraction.

Always next week.

Good summary.

Casboult was reasonable. Won't get dropped because he's the 2nd ruck. Other second ruck is Rowe so that answer the question there. Rowe I hope can get back to last years form.

Armfield should always play only for the fact he's an unusual breed here...he actually has a go.

Missing Waite. He gave us direction going forward. Waite and Henderson gave us some potency. With Jones it gives us no confidence going forward. Better off with Watson there.

If any one here thinks Carrazzo, Ellard and Jones aren't the first names on the chopping block, I give up.

Ellard was too slow and played like a frustrated man. Carrazzo was regularly lumbering along like he'd pulled his calf and Jones faded in and out more than a shitty pub DJ.

After that, play a zone structure so we're not so not every turn over is a goal, and so we actually feel like running when we get the ball back...

RANDOM THOUGHTS!

well put a hose up my bum and clean me out. Ellard kicked a goal.

gibbs and murphy are abominable. watching the game ... the absence of staying with their man, 2nd efforts, being hard at it. they'd be the first on the trade table this offseason. Cash them in for whatever we can get (late 1st round picks?!)

Tuohy is back. Hendo is solid. Jones ran today, for the first time in his life he freaking ran!

The new irish kid added some run and carry. Godbless Yarran and his left hook.

Simpson. Make him captain by monday morning.

when we don't have the ball, we are like the blind men from Alabama. No one fills the zonal space, no one goes to a man. We literally stand there looking at one another. Witches Hats are more proactive! Witches Hats!

Wood finally showed, and the value of a ruck who can compete at the stoppages showed its importance once again.

Rowe ... god christ almighty he is a passenger. He can't do anything. With Jamison's decline, we actually need a KDP more than a forward.

our kicking at goal makes me nauseous. We had more shots at goal today and still lost by 20. We beat them at the stoppages and the clearances. we still lost.

FWIW ... i think we are not being coached well at any level. Defensively, in the middle, up front and of course the head coach is almost a decade past it at this point.

We better beat st kilda, but it will be a battle of the spoon. loser wins it.

Carrazzo has been great for this club but he is gone. We play too many of the same types. Poor selection and structure.

All three will be playing next week. If not, CK may eat his own shit.

Depends if they keep Malty.
He'd never admit he made a poor recruiting choice with Jones.
I heard MLJ today saying recruiting should be done in conjunction with the coach.

Do you reckon Murphy improved? Was viewing the game from lvl 1 Ponsford so happy to be proven wrong but I can only remember him getting a few cheap positions & not much else.

What I saw of Gibbs was that he was only making some kind of effort for the sake of it, too many times he just jogged from play to play.

Simmo was all heart, why is this man not our captain!!!!! :banghead:

Murphy, after a slow start, was easily our best.

We didn't capitalise despite having enough of the ball. We didn't put any heat on the scoreboard.
