Disappointed Bryne is the sub. Wanted to see more of him.

Not worried.

No expectation of winning, just want to see a better effort.

Would like to have seen Casey early but at least it's something.

Casey starting would have released some of our best players to dictate through the middle. Murphy, Gibbs and Curnow better lift their collective game.

Never understood making a first-gamer the sub, just doesn't make sense to me yet we seem to do it a lot (other clubs probably do too).

Hope he goes well.

Here you go Mr & Mrs Byrne... welcome to Australia... we brought you here to watch you son sit on the pine in a workman's vest for three and a half quarters... ENJOY!

I think Mick still doesn't understand the sub rule. Most clubs use an extra midfielder. It helps if they are versatile. Sometimes a veteran to introduce a spark of brilliance or calmness late in a game if required. Mick still uses the last person picked (usually a rookie) and expects them to ace it. Really hate that.

Absolutely Fraze Mick on radio says he hates sub rule and thinks it might change
Having said that the rule is in and must deal or use it to your advantage this approach to sub rule symptomatic of his approach to coaching at the moment

No qualms with the sub being a first gamer; I thought Clem was the perfect sub, because he's got a bit of flair and plays an attacking role.

Players like Byrne, who are essentially defensive back-pockets, aren't exactly great types to wear the green vest. There's minimal potential for them to come on and have any meaningful impact.

They way we're going though he's only going to have to wait half a quarter before he gets a run.

Its 18.5c with a gentle northwesterly and not a lick of rain to be seen. Perfect day for football.

Go blues!

In all likelihood we will get smashed. Not expecting to win.

But I'm expecting effort, spirit and fight. If these players can't at least deliver that...
