[Insert debutants\defenders name] for first ever AFL goal...

Big Griffiths for mine. Better player than Vickery, who's always smashed us.

Macintosh. First game after not being able to crack one for the toothless tigers in three years. According to ch 7 will get the rising star and a chance for Brownlow votes.

I'm off to spew.

I'd give the Brad Moran to Richmond.

Although Taylor Hunt played well I think it belongs to Grimes

Maybe we need to have a 3,2,1 voting system if the first round is anything to go by..... And a medal struck!!!!

Probably a contender, but being his first AFL game, we have no measure on how well he performs against other sides to see if he truly is a spud or not.

First-gamers definitely qualify for Moran nominations.

Anyone who has zero expectation to excel in a game is a potential contender.

This award seems to have stalled a touch with so much else going on around the club, but I'm keen to see it pick up steam again. There are plenty more spuds who can tear us a new one as the year goes on. Taking the earlier suggestion of a 3,2,1 system our opening round votes are as follows:

Round 1: Richmond.
3: K McIntosh - 23 disposals and a goal on debut.
2: T Hunt - Geelong discard who racked up 27 touches in his Richmond debut.
1: B Griffiths - 3 goals in the Tyrone Vickery role as the second forward who manages to smash us.

Round 2: West Coast.
3: M Rosa - single handedly turned the game on its head with his tagging job on Judd.
2: B Sheppard - career high 25 touches for a guy yet to cement his spot after 6 lacklustre years in the league.
1: S Lycett - 13 touches, a goal and 29, yes 29, hitouts for the Eagles backup ruckman.

I think Don had the original idea for this, so hopefully I'm not stepping on any toes by getting involved.

Will be taking nominations and predictions each and every week.

Good call.
Howlett and Stanton had big grins on Saturday evening.

If that dreadlock St Kilda kid plays this week he must be a big chance.

Or is Siposs still on their list?
