Teams are out at midday apparently. Squad size is 29, although from memory that may go up by 2 or 3 if it's a scorcher (forecast is for 26 though).

Notable outs:
Injuries: Kreuzer (foot), Murphy (calf), Walker (knee), Ellard (calf), Giles (foot), Whiley (achilles), Foster (foot)
Not selected: Gibbs, Judd, Jamison, Thomas, Henderson, Carrazzo, Everitt, Warnock, Menzel

FB: White Jaksch Sheehan

FF: Tutt Watson Smith

RR: Wood Cripps Graham

Int From (2 to be subs): Docherty, Curnow, Johnson, Casboult, Viojo-Rainbow, Armfield, Dick, Fields

Emergencies: Walsh, Gowers, Menzel

I expect us to be competitive if we stick to the task for 2-3 quarters.

I'm going down for a look with the kiddos. Got some accommodation a short walk from the ground, supposed to be 28 degrees, lots of new players to have a look at and can get fish and chips (maybe even a beer) at the waterfront afterwards.

FRIDAY!!!!!!!!!

I expect the Eagles to be cherry ripe for this. Simpson isn't Malthouse, he has a fair bit of pressure on him this year, the big end of town hasn't made up their mind about him yet.

I think we will lose comfortably but a coaches attitude towards these games sets the standard. Not great for memberships, but memberships will come in the season proper IF we get off to a good start.

So much for having a full playing list. WTF happened in the past two weeks?

Carlton coach Michael Malthouse will not travel to Western Australia with the team this week.

Michael’s wife Nanette will undergo investigative surgery on her abdomen on Friday. The exact nature of the issue remains unclear.

I don't think that's been the case since around Christmas?

Giles has been in rehab for his foot since mid-2014, Whiley and Foster injured themselves just before the end of the year IIRC, and then Ellard injured himself at Mt. Buller. The rest were all this week, except possibly Holman.

Clarko hasn't coached NAB games for years.....but I'm sure Mick missing Friday's game will have people calling for him to sacked.

Yeah @#$%&! sack him, doesn't he know coaching Carlton comes before exploratory surgery on his wife?

Next thing you'll tell me husbands want to be there for births, funerals should be attended and being held at gunpoint is an acceptable excuse for missing training.

Complete. @#$%&!. Garbage.

Compared to us they're practically full strength.

No coach + young squad - nothing to lose. Just looking forward to seeing the kids properly for the first time. Byrne especially.

The guys in green are borderline AFL players or newbies.

There's a lot of dross in the WCE list.

Post subject:  Re: NAB Rd 1: WCE v Carlton (pre-match, squads p1)

So Johnson and Walsh in for Carrazzo and Everitt; that's a total of 10 names missing who would be in the frame for selection in the season proper, 8 of them automatic selections IMO, so we're missing over a third of our team.

Should be an interesting test of our depth, particularly our talls and through the true midfield positions. Big chance for Graham, Yarran, Cripps, Bell, Buckley, Watson, Boekhorst, Smith and Byrne to show their wares either in other roles or as starting 18 types. There would also appear to be 3 rookie elevations up for grabs at present, so plenty for Byrne, Johnson & Gowers to compete for there alongside Sheehan & Wood.

I'll be interested in seeing what Jaksch, Tutt, Dick, Armfield and Viojo-Rainbow can produce, as well as seeing if Walsh and Fields have some quality about them.

For the opposition I'll be very keen to see how Yeo, Brown, Lamb and Lucas are tracking.

Great squad. This is the time to play the kids and see where they are at. Hopefully Simmo doesn't play.
Coach can review our kids progress from replay's.

Do they trim the squad from 29 to 26 pre-game or is that another rule that's disappeared?

EDIT: Apparently it's 26 with a 6 man bench and 2 subs

Chris Masten is a borderline AFL player?

I'm going to drive down for the game, looking at those squads I will be happy if we are competitive, just looking forward to seeing some of the new guys (especially Boekhorst) and happy football is back. Blues have 3 WA games this year, will Carlton have a membership tent at the game?
