It is with sadness that the contributors of the Blueseum recently discovered that one of our team members had passed away. On TC, he was known as tcblue. On the Blueseum he was pblue and on The Blue View before that. He posted regularly until 2011 on TC. Those of us who corresponded with him regularly knew him as Phil. He passed away recently at the age of 76 and was a devoted Blues supporter. He volunteered many hours to the Blueseum on all manner of tasks, colourising old photos, producing detailed stats tables and bringing old Blues songs back to life among other activities. Phil was a muso who at one stage was a part time Saxaphone player doing the rounds. He was also a dab hand on the computer with technical skills that went all the way back to the 1970s. The first Carlton game he attended was the 1947 grand final with his Dad. Phil had a personal Carlton connection as well, his uncle, Paul Cameron played a couple of games for the Blues in the 1920s. Hi Everyone I would like to add my condolences to the site for the loss of pblue / tcblue; Phil Ereaut. I never met Phil face to face but exchanged hundreds of emails and Blueseum messages with him through the years. I think I was the one who convinced him to come to the Blueseum as his primary site, for he had developed his own. He was an extremely loyal fan and committed to representing history on the Blueseum, being one of a handful of long-termers on site who continued to give until he passed. I thought he was a bit older than me given how grumpy he was some times. On a shared input site like the Blueseum you can often have disagreements over how the site should function and what things should look like and Phil was very clear with his views. And we always sorted them out - found a way to make it all work. But 40 years older - now that surprised me. You see, he was also very keen to share his knowledge on how to 'program'. You can see his table formats through site and the Blueseum music add-on was all his idea. So all round a much better technical user of site than I could ever hope to be, and a willing teacher. But above all it was Phil's love of colourised images that have influenced the Blueseum. I hated them! Still do. But his passionate cleaning-up and colourisation of old photos is clear when you look through the Image Galleries. One image stands in the mind: his uncle Paul Cameron. Phil has cleaned up a very low quality image of Paul and it stands on site; it will always remind me of him. Phil was part of the weekly update crew of Warren / Rod / me in 2014 (plus a few others) and I remember thinking later in the year that the ladder updates (in 'Ereaut format') were no longer coming through. I sent off an email asking how he was... But didn't follow up. The only follow up came when Pete asked where he was. And now Pete has found out why - Phil had died earlier in the year, buried in December 2014. I'll miss Phil on site. He provided a lot of value to site, and through his commitment to the Blueseum clearly added different insights to the Club and to the site itself. Cheers Phil! Regards Michael |
