What's the significance of the first comment? Other than making a lot of sense, that is...

The media is sure to make a meal of this if Silvagni rejects any position at the club.

But is Silvagni a good or even great List Manager.

Although he has to be better than what we've currently got, which is not necessarily a glowing endorsement.

He works for the AFL.
The AFL own GWS and they would recognise that his role was just about the most important position in the start up of that club.
They have obviously bashed the Carlton out of him because he has at the very least embraced the draft and not tried trading away early picks.

Andrew McKay worked for the AFL too.

Give me picks 1,2,3,5,7,9,11,13,15 etc etc and I wouldn't mind having a go as a list manager either.

..whether gws picked the right kids remains to be seen, but the strategy was sound.. ....they had this brief period of racking up picks, and they went youth on all of them.. ....it's a slow build, but gave themselves every chance of cramming as much talent as possible onto the list, even the 'stars' they poached at start up, they went youth, aside from the token has-beens..

Maybe, but at this stage I'd just be happy if Jack, Ben and Tom just made the grade as Father/Son selections.

I can't believe this is being discussed.
Make it stop.

If SOS comes back his position will be football director and not list manager or head of recruiting

I look forward to SOS coming back and then in 2-3 years kicking the living sh*t out of him behind my keyboard on TC.

Don't under estimate the influence of Ablett

Agree but both have some unbelievable talent. Ablett plus the extra maturity in Bennell, O'Meara, Prestia & Swallow makes a difference. Hard to assess which is better as I believe GWS are on a slower curve given lack of experienced talent. My gut feeling is that in a year or two GWS will really start to shine and be the better side.
