Independent Nominations Committee.....???

Is it a creation to further disincentivize board challengers/shore up the incumbents ?

Will members vote for this ?

Let me give you a clue.
Go into the Carlton football c club
Notice of meeting
Find special business
" amend constitution "

Read that thing very carefully and see if you can find anything unusual...

Does this have something to do with the size of the board?

So, for those who have read it, do we vote for or against?

That stuff is over my head.

I read somewhere they were reducing the board to 10 people.

Board size reduced to min 6-10 members.

Independent nominations committee established and appointed by Board to decide whether candidates applying to fill board vacancies are worthy of being on the Board.

This independent nominations committee doesn't sound too independent. This will anger Rexy and Synbad.

Yep so the board want to make all the decisions on who sits.

So they want to take those decisions out of the members hands. Thought they were doing that already for a few years now.

Back in the day, when a new member wanted to sit on the board, they would sell us themselves and we had the choice of whether to vote them in for not. This is how it should be now.

three board members go up and all will stay on unopposed...
There is no real reduction of course...
And yes the president is part of the independent filtering committee.
Joke.

Not much from the club about why.. Etc.. It's flying under the radar..
So why no surprise Rogers doesn't get on the front foot..
Have you blokes worked out what's wrong with our club yet and why I refuse to give them s cent..

It's not our club anymore...

no reason is just what we want to do.

Treason!

These people are not to be trusted... The president and the CEO have their fingerprints on this.
Exclusivity..

More thought put into something like this than the remedy for the sick old man if the AFL.

Filtering?

You couldn't write this stuff.

Well you could actually.

In fact I think George Orwell may have already done so.

It's why were a crap club and not going anywhere.
Ask yourself this... Would the filtering committee allow a person like Pratt to run if he wanted to get on the board?
What criteria?
Would it be the theft of a few hundred million dollars that would get them to nod?

Surely that just sums this club up for exactly the pathetic corrupt ludicrous club it is..
And the people that run the club fully fledged oligarchs with the iq of a goalpost

All their promises of connecting us all talk..

lol wanting presidents and CEO's to be honest and transparent ...

This isn't kindergarten its big business, in the real world business is cut throat, dog eat dog - hell just look at politics for crying out loud.

Mates clubs, factions, back stabbers, the list goes on and on. Your going on and on trying blame demons for not being angles? Its insanity.

At the end of the day your pissed because we aint successful? Or if we end up successful, does it matter how we got there? or are we still to bitch and moan after winning premierships because the hierarchy of the club are no different from anyone in the world involved in business? I don't get it.

Its ALL about money!

Money OWNS everything!

Pratts, Mathiesons, whoever, will ALWAYS have a say and will ALWAYS have influence in the dog eat dog world of business. Our club is a business. The business of winning premierships.

Result? We have been dismal at the business of winning premierships.

Why?

Because people with money have power and influence and thus will always have agendas. Want to change it? Get filthy rich first and then do something about it ...

:P

Don't know about anyone else but it kind of annoys me, really annoys me, to see the club projecting this sense of inclusiveness while at the same time trying to create an undemocratic filter for the board.

This is an important topic and I've split the posts about the Independent Nominations Committee from the 2014 Annual Report thread.

Personally, nepotism and gerrymandering are words that come to mind with this committee.

I'd like to know how independent it really is and what measures are in place to ensure it remains independent.

Until, or unless, we get some clear and direct information about this committee I suggest members exercise a NO vote on this change.
