The meeting itself went smoothly. The Q and A section had the usual dose of self indulgence waffle - Trigg handled that part well and came across well in general (in my opinion).

Trigg made an interesting comment, in regards to the club's recruiting approach and the need to restore some balance to the list, which he admitted lacks depth.

Without doubt though, the highlight was Malthouse introducing the new recruits - it looked like he was enjoying the interaction with each of the players and vice versa.

And before I forget, the tribute that Greg Lee paid to his late wife during his short speech was rather touching.

Attended my first AGM. Benny's comments are accurate. I guess my interest was more around how the club goes about governance, rather than any politics or issues others may have had.
It was also my first sighting of MM "in person" and his enthusiasm for the new players and excitement for what he is building was obvious. As Benny said, Trigg's comments on the list were pretty straight: unbalanced in terms of the cap/contractual side of things and in terms of the ages represented. He clearly sees these as serious issues which of course they have already started addressing in this year's player turnover and the appointment of SoS. (I don't know how much should be read into this but when mentioning departed players he left out Robinson, Garlett and Maclean.)
The AGM itself was carefully planned, swiftly executed but all handled appropriately. The INC: well, you can take a positive view that it is there to strategically consider the needs at Board level, or you can take the view that it is there as a tool to exclude people and control - I believe that the people running the joint now genuinely intend to use it for good, not evil.
Greg Lee was passionate and blunt and addressed a number of areas that have gripped the pages of TC.
The Forum afterwards did drag on: there is no appetite for serious consideration of playing premiership games at Princes Park; much is being done to improve the match day experience; I believe Trigg and MLG genuinely see the importance of supporters being connected to the club rather than as customers; even when people have been listened to, they still seem to need to be heard - again!
Afterwards there was a chance to interact further and Trigg continued to be candid about how Carlton is or has been seen by other clubs. In particular he is surprised by the level of negativity he has found in the tribe. But he is genuinely excited to be here and serious about cultural improvements.
For me, a really positive and enjoyable experience - a strong sense that the club is on a better path now and there is much to look forward to.

Yes Triggy, our list is so unbalanced and fragile, that we searched the planet for the best available list manager in existence. Yes ladies and gentlemen after a thorough global search to fill this critical position at the club, we came up independently with SOS, someone who within 12 months can't sit in on whether his son will be recruited by the blues. Whilst I am a fan of SOS, for Trigg to highlight our major problem as being list balance after signing up SOS seems rather odd to me. If list balance and depth was our most pressing football administration issue, (there are other issues that need attention as well imo) then we would have taken the appointment of the list manager far more seriously and recruited the best in the nation.

From one of the most cutting edge sporting organisations in Australia, creating trends for others to follow, within a mere decade or so, we have plunged into the abyss of mediocrity, addicted to silver bullets, and past glories we are now just another a sheep....

Well done ladies and gentlemen

Congratulations on yet another productive AGM. Hopefully in years to come we will be one of the fastest growing poker machine franchises in the Southern Hemisphere....that will sort out our debt and the loss we just posted.

The bombers produced a profit and have 60,000 members

Our club doesn't give a @#$%&! about either

dont you worry about a thing cret.... this time theyre gunna fix it... this time..u watch and see....

give the new guy with the new head a chance....

he understands what this club needs... its a committee to filter who its on the board... because.. there is a real concern the people siting on the board are not of good ilk....and candidates must be lifted...

1.6 million loss .. and guess what?? behind closed doors... they sare saying the supporters are "apathetic!!"... its also why supporters are not coughing up prior to xmas.. let alone signing up at all.....

adelaide have a great number sign up prior to xmas...and they get a real cash injection when the club has literally no monies coming in... compared to us...

just "apathetic!!!..."

theyre just stuck with the most "apathetic" supporters in the AFL....

this year they decides to do something about it... if you dont sign up prior...u will be penaalised $200 if you want to be allocated the same seat as you may have been given last few years.. even if youre a member 30 plus years...

That will fix you apathetic bunch of lazy bastard Calrton supporters...

lol

are they serious???

the lesson in all that is if youre giving already... they know youre a wood duck.. they will make more out of you... instead of reach out to the general supporter base....

they dont mind if its shrinks.. they know those that are 'rusted on' will give more...

thats the plan.....

its s snake gorging on itself from the tail.. till there is nothing left...

yes.. i can see how theyre connecting...

watch what they do not listen to what they say....

ever laughed at smokers who pay $25 a packet because the rest of us dont smoke ciggies anymore...

less and less smokers means those that do smoke will pay more and more...

of course theres a hard core element of those that will continue to buy a packet for $50 even though they know its not good for them

thats the membership plan at this club ....

Mr S, members aren't apathetic.

They have lost trust and faith in the club.

But don't worry, the Young Carlton Professionals Think Tank, the Independent Nominations Committee (which isnt independent) and the Carlton Members Council (with its board filtered members) will reverse this lack of trust and faith, oooops sorry I mean apathetic feelings amongst members.

After all our club internally is based upon honesty and integrity.
