Good list and a lot of work put into that

I do a lot of work on Blueseum and one of them is Lower Grade Players, I recognised Chris Gray and Jon Simpson in the 1982 draft. Don't know anything about pick 24 Velde in 1981 - where was he recruited from, WAFL, SANFL??

The complete list comes from here - http://footystats.freeservers.com/Footy ... en%29.html - and I havent been able to locate it anywhere else online.

12. Carlton, Ross Ditchburn (Claremont, W.A.)
24. Carlton, Chris Velde (Glenelg, S.A.)

I dont believe Velde came over though. he's not on the clubs playing list for 82. Ditchburn did though. (http://www.blueseum.org/tiki-index.php? ... aying+List)

12. Carlton, John Simpson, Woodville, S.A.)
24. Carlton, Chris Gray (Swansea, Tas.)

Great with picking raw young talent. Something Parkin said he couldn't do himself. (Once said he couldn't pick a young bruce Doull if he walked into the club)

Never said much around the club, but Mr. A use to drag him in sometimes to talk about the reserves and new young rookies.

It's a real skill to pick young talent. It's not always obvious. thats why we thought Peter Brown was a better footballer than Diesel.

Bomba, you'll like this video on Chris Gray. Says a lot about how local leagues could ruin a young blokes chance at making it in the big league.

And that they trained smarter over at Hawthorn as well.

Not sure they smartly trained out his viscous snap hook.

We traded him to geelong for someone, Geelong traded him on to Hawthorn.
