Message to the shambolic Carlton Football club: Here is the perfect opportunity to stand up and show members and the football world in general that you are not just full of hot air. For nearly 20 years I have listened to jingoistic garbage about how committed the club is for success. For the most part this has just been meaningless lip service to try and appease members. Now is the time to take a stand. It's bad enough that 2 players are out at 5am and getting in fights but hey footballers aren't often renowned for their mental capabilities and they won't be the last players to do it BUT to concoct a lie about how an injury was sustained and then continue to lie to the club for 4 days is inexcusable. It is not like Robbo is a cleanskin kid in his first season, he is a repeat offender and each time it involves sheer stupidity. As for Garlett he can hardly claim to have been a role model in his time at the club both on and off field . The time has come to send a message to all players that this kind of crap and dishonesty will not be tolerated. The club should have learnt its lesson from the Fev experience, eventually you have to say enough is enough. I have called for Garlett and Robbo to be traded at years end but now the club has no choice but to delist or trade these players, they Must not be offered a new contract - I don't mind is we just sack these guys on the spot, any trade we get for these guys is a bonus. Once a player wilfully lies to the club their time is up, it shows total disrespect for the club, team-mates, fans etc.. The reality in life is that special players will always receive special treatment because of their exceptional talent or team value but unfortunately for Robbo and Jeff they don't fit into this category Thanks for your years of service but commitment and the pursuit for success requires more than just a catchy slogan and some inspirational slow motion highlights put to catchy music. I am Carlton *sigh* |

When the Garlett thingy happened and a few dumb posters suggested the club gave Garlett the OK to play I thought, dumb club. Then the truth came out that MM was disappointed it was after 1 am. It was 5am!! Then I read another dumb poster suggest Robbo should have been there and I thought 4 against 1 with Garlett outnumbered, what the @#$%&! is he out there on his own on his birthday? Bloody Robbo must have let him loose. Then I find out Robbo was there, and just as guilty as Garlett for breaking team rules. I just read the article in the Herald Scum that Carlton has withdrawn negotiations of contract with Robbo. Coupled with the judd article about player selfishness at the club, and the reult was that I was really angry at Robbo and Garlett...and the club's admin over the last 20 years (which wasnt new). Robbo was going to be available to play against Essendon* and Port and we needed himn to fly the flag. He broke rules, stayed out late, got into a fight, got injured and means he cant play for CFC for the remainder of the year. Means he's not a Carlton player but a Carlton spectator. So he's no good to us. Disrespectful and out of control. ADHD or not, Trade him. Garlett playing for his footy career at Carlton also didnt give a damn about his future at the club let alone CFC when he went out till 5 am. He couldnt give a damn. Well I do. Damn him!! Trade him too. Neither player has had a great year, other than Robbos 100 game, so no big loss imo. Whilst I'd really like to keep them both as depth players because our list is thin after player 15 and we do need to add another 15 really ggod players, we arent going to win games in 2015 if we have blokes who are bove the club playing for us in 2015. The club is bigger than the individual. |

Good posts boys, time to flower off for both of these lads. At least Robbo had a decent year, hope it helps us get something useful for him. To think both of these peanuts are young fathers, too, what a terrible example they set. |

Come on already, it wasn't like this was a Tuesday night piss up at the local boozer. It was someones birthday and a Saturday night which turned into a Sunday morning. I'm not saying what they did was right, everyone knows it wasn't, but they were out celebrating a birthday for petes sake. Neither have been charged and were actually the victims of an assault. For celebrating a birthday. Their crime no doubt was being out so damn late in the first place. They are young, its someones birthday, its Saturday night, it doesn't take Einstein to see where this is heading ... Then for whatever reasons they got themselves into trouble with some undesirables (this I don't blame them for - and yes, IF they weren't out in the first place, blah blah blah) its still something for which I am grateful that neither of them, or the offenders were seriously hurt. Though a broken eye-socket is serious its not life threatening. The final crime came when Robbo thought he'd duck'n'cover the issue (he's pretty funny really, trying to pull it off in the first place) and has got himself well and truly in the poop big time. I like Robbo, I do think he's a bit of a goose, but he's young and some take forever to grow up. Malthouse alone would be punishment enough for Robbo to face. Seriously. Malthouse as pissed as pissed gets in your face ripping you a new one. That should be Robbo's only punishment on top of the penalties already handed out. Let Malthouse punish him as Malthouse and the leaders of Carlton think appropriate, but for heavens sake don't send the guy packing his bags? Its Robbo! ![]() |

Any decisions should be reserved until the club views how they react to their punishment. |

Great decision by the board to drop Garlett and Robinson for today's game. |

I dont know what the numbers are but on the surface at least it appears that carlton over the last 10-15 years would have moved on or sacked more players than any other club in the comp So as for the board sending a message how many do you want them to send Angwin Norman Fev Bootsma just to name a few but im sure there has been more that have not been made public We seem to be one of the few clubs sacking and suspending players on a regular basid |

I am Carlton *sigh* I don't agree. I don't think the punishment fits the crime. The clubs approach has been measured and proportionate. Mitch has had one of his better years if not best and we all know what Garlett is capable of. It is okay to send a message without going overboard because player depth is not a luxury we currently have. Would rather we target players who don't put 100% efforts at training or in getting their bodies right. |

Hope we keep Robbo............far from the worst we have had at our club over the years.Choir boy compared to some.....................reckon this could be the making of Robbo.Shouldnt have been rubbed out in the first place.Robbo has been coming along nicely for mine and it would be a crying shame for all our hard work going to another club. |
