Football department direction is the best it's been. Supporter interaction is probably the best its been. The link between the football department and other areas of the club is the best its been. I'd say Surreys assessment is pretty accurate.

It's terrible if this is true. I dropped him an email about a recruiter and he was kind enough to reply and follow up.

I don't want a mate of Gil to be running our club

Depends what his most important KPI's are and what the Board deems most important.

Membership numbers have stagnated- and maybe the "win it and they will come" mantra is not washing with the Board - this is just my speculation however.

I'll be disappointed if it's true Trigg is leaving. The club has gone in the right strategic direction since he has been in the chair. He is impressive whenever he speaks and the best CEO we've had for 20 years.

Can't Andy McKay go instead? :yikes:

He's out in 1-2 weeks.

In the AFL they are all mates with each other. Most wouldn't earn anywhere near as much if they had to get a real job.

When was the last time a high profile CEO of an AFL went onto run a small to medium sized business or the local arm of an international operation?

Overpaid and inbreed.

Intriguingly Carlton has denied its chief executive Steven Trigg is on the way out and returning to Adelaide to live but Collingwood firmly believes Lethlean has been offered the Blues job.

According to barass70 on Bigfooty, Lethlean will be CEO next year.

And that would be the miraculous resurrection of AFL scandal boy to a CEO. As I stated a few months back, he was never really going to be gone....was he?

I think the AFL appointed Trigg as our CEO and now they're appointing Lethlean for their own sordid reasons.

This is what happens when you're essentially in administration.

This.
However... this could be very good for Carlton.

Yuck. That all sounds very messy.

Have we handed the keys to the AFL? Another big financial loss?

Carlton joins search for chief executive as Steven Trigg resigns

CARLTON chief executive Steven Trigg has resigned.

Blues president Mark LoGiudice confirmed the decision this afternoon.

TRADE LATEST: EVERY WHISPER, EVERY MOVE

HAWKS CEO: BOSS SACKED FIVE MONTHS INTO JOB

“We’ve had discussions over the last couple of months,” LoGiudice told the Herald Sun.

“This has not been an easy discussion. We’ve come to a mutual, conciliatory agreement.

“This was all amicable.”

Disgraced AFL football boss Simon Lethlean has been linked to the Blues’ top job for weeks, but LoGiudice said the club would engage a recruitment company to search for Trigg’s replacement.

Trigg will continue in the role until the Blues find their next chief.

He shifted to the Blues from the Adelaide Crows three years ago after serving a suspension for his role in the Kurt Tippett salary cap affair.

Billionaire Blues powerbroker Bruce Mathieson boasted in April 2015 that Trigg would help return the club to greatness.

“The appointment of Trigg was a great get, people wouldn’t have thought we could get him,” Mathieson said.

“We’ve got the best administration we’ve had in 20 years — I can guarantee you that.”

Lethlean was forced out by the AFL in July because of an affair with a younger female staffer.

Reinstated Hawthorn president Jeff Kennett said this week Lethlean would not be considered as a candidate for the club’s vacant CEO position because of his conduct at the AFL.

“We are a family club ... it’s much too early for a club like Hawthorn,” Kennett said.

Trigg is the second CEO to leave the game this week after Tracey Gaudry’s sudden exit at the Hawks on Monday.

The Magpies and Western Bulldogs are also searching for a new CEO.

MORE TO COME

Did well with what he had. Very approachable which was rare in a football CEO. This is good timing for this to happen and a gutsy decision by board and pres. Kudos.
