I have just seen an article on the CFC website entitled "Positional switch paying off", which can be found here:

http://www.carltonfc.com.au/news/2014-0 ... paying-off

Luke Webster, who is charged with coaching our YOUNG TALENT which is the ONLY FUTURE FOR OUR CLUB, was quoted as saying "Speaking post-match after the Blues’ 40-point loss to North Ballarat, Northern Blues coach Luke Webster said the positional change had paid off."

You have GOT to be kidding me? We got done by 40 points and the man with responsibility for creating a winning culture among our YOUTH would give them a pat on the back?

This has nothing to do with whether or not I think of Watson as a player (which currently isn't much) - but more an example of why my beloved football club has become an absolute circus.

Thoughts?

Nothing to lose. Put him at FF and see what happens. Just don't put him anywhere behind CHF - FFS!!

Yeah Ken, I've come to an online forum to ask randoms (who go by the name of their football idols and with a penchant for American punk rock) for their opinion on me.

With insight like that, you should run for a position on the board.
With humor like that, you should run for head coach.
With taste like that, you should select our players in the next draft.

the club is dying on the vine now....

we have to recruit a ceo, recruiter, list manager.....even before we think about players....

Really given me a beat down there.
I'm not sure how to respond.

Watson has been kicking some goals in the VFL. That is a positive thing. Will it translate to AFL? Unlikely. But give the kid a go before delisting him. I'm not sure why its such a big deal that the coach says he has played well in the last couple of weeks.
If we were really desperate to win that game, we wouldn't have pulled our ruckman and only key forward off in the last quarter.
It's about development and catering to Carlton's needs.

Yep, fair enough. Give him a decent crack up forward and a few games in a row to see if he shows something or improves. Like you, though, I doubt it.

I found it a big deal that the coach says he has played well, because 3 goals from 7 shots in the VFL isn't exactly setting the world on fire. I don't think Alastair Clarkson (who I've played under) would have done the same.

On another note, I wonder if they pulled Wood off early to give him a run next week in place of Warnock?

Kernahan and Swann are gone---- His attention turns to Webster and Watson to find relevance

Two weeks forward in the VFL and the coach says it has 'paid off'....................... hilarious. Christ, I sound like Shytbag, sorry Synbad.

Watson needs coaches talking like this after his demoralising game against hawthorn. Good luck to him. He only has a month or so to earn a new contract.
