Interesting that he said that he wanted to play half-back, rather than the forward line. Obviously relishes the opportunity. |

Listening to Gibbs & Yarran and the fact they have signed (and Menzel will) says to me it's a happy group and a happy place to be. That generally has a lot to do with the coaching and the environment they create. T For me it boils down to talent and depth. We really lack in those areas and as such it causes inconsistency in performance. IMO it's as simple as that. |

Bit that irks me is where it mentions he ignored overtures from Eddie Betts to join the Adelaide Crows. Seriously, is Eddie trying to lure Carlton players? He said earlier in the year he would get into Gibbs' ear about joining them and now it appears he has spoken to Yarran. If this is the case then nick off Eddie, you have lost me. Yarran was on radio a couple of weeks ago and he mentioned that he loves playing off the HB line and is happy. |

"I think we play at our best when we have no pressure on us and everyone expects us to lose". This pretty much sums up the playing group, doesn't it? They play at their best when they have nothing to lose. The crucial 8 point games against like opponents, meh, why show up? Over to you, MM, this garbage mindset has to be eliminated from this group. |

"I certainly think that we have got the talent in this group to take us to the next level, but I think blokes are just not playing together as a team at the moment," Yarran said. "Too many blokes are willing to play for themselves, I guess, and not the team. "We spoke about that a few weeks ago, working together as a team, and I think if we can do that we will win more games. We have showed this year that we can match it with some of the best teams, but not being able to get over the line is pretty deflating. Finally a player has come out and said what l am banging on about. Basically not playing for the coach or the game plan. Stop micro scoping the list and fix the coaching panel first. If the coach can't get the players on the same page, then there is something majorly wrong. Ratten had to go, but we got the wrong coach in. Move him on until you get a Ken Hinkley type. 2 mths ago Mckay said that they asked the players if they were happy with the game plan, got leadership involved to ask the other players, all came back with a response that they were behind the game plan. Why would you disagree with the plan and be put in the magoos for rest of the season?. Stupid move by the club. 2mths on, there is still a massive issue between the players and the coaching panel. Coaching panel needs a blow torch before the players. If they are playing for themselves, then that mostly means the players don't agree with the gameplan, don't understand it or don't respect malthouse. Game plan wise we were a shambles against GWS, we should never of lost that game. This is virtually the same list which finished top 6 in 2011 with more experience now. You don't fluke that. ![]() |

I reckon Betts is taking the piss and the media report it as legit. Nothing in it. |

brave comments though, and good on him. mebbe a few home truths would do the team good and I agree with what was posted above, playing for themselves also means to me they are not playing for the coach. |

It's the same shit they came out with after the Melbourne loss. What ever happened to the "#united" crap they came out with after that? Either they're the flakiest bunch of blokes in the history of football who can't be saved from themselves, or the coach isn't doing his job... |

Yazz is probably as big a culprit as anyone in terms of not doing the team things, although he has definitely improved this year. In light of this, not really a surprise they dropped Waite. |

So basically Yarran is saying our issues are between the ears. Correct me if I'm wrong but hows a coach supposed to get in there and fix that? |

Doesn't say much about the coach if, 18 months into a 3 year deal, the players haven't bought into the plan. Hinkley achieved that in 18 days of pre-season. |
