This comment shows a lack of reality.

“The only thing that I am flat about is we are 4-7 at the moment," Kernahan said. "As I am winding down, our team hasn’t been at its best. But we are better than what we have been serving up this year.

I was so hoping that that this thread was a YouTube clip of an inebriated Kernahan
outside Naughtons singing "Non, Je ne regrette rien"...

...I should probably stop drinking now.

yeah he has no regrets.... his fingerprints all over some of the very worst things that have ever happened to this club

one of the things ill always remember him for is recruiting stephen o'reilly.

You are phreaking kidding me!

No regrets is ok had we won 3 flags.

No regrets is ok had we won 1 flag.

No regrets might be ok if we had the highest membership

No regrets might be ok if we had a football department that was the trendsetter and envy of the league

No regrets might be ok if we had a recruiting department that was the trendsetter and envy of the league

FFS sticks, this shows why this club is really a joke. There's not a thing you could have done better ? So this was your 'best' ?

Wow, glad you didn't have an off 7 years!

We are completely doomed. I see absolutely no future at our football club. There is nothing that gives me the slightest hope of improvement. We are deservedly the laughing stock of the league. Thanks Sticks et al.

When asked by the recruiters/coaches at the time about O'Reilly Kernahan told them he was one of his hardest opponents. I guess that is a fingerprint but hardy him recruiting him.

I'll always remember him for being an on field champion and great captain, I guess you can focus on negatives for the rest of our days or remember the good things.

I'm a glass is half full type.

Just a shame that nobody else stood up and took the club forward when it had to be done. Ian Collins in particular was disappointing.

They all say that
Bottom line
He wasn't suited to the job because he was too thick in certain areas
If he wasn't one of our greatest players he wouldn't have been in the various positions he held considering his off field record
Which means in some ways the people who worked closely with him are just as dumb as a second coat of paint

I still cant forgive Parkin.

He, along with Elliot were the ones (IMO) who created the culture of topping up with retreads and not rebuilding.
Kernahan served his apprenticeship under that regime...hence the OReilly Massie type decisions.

Pagan wasnt much better.

Kernahan was left to hold the baby. What baby?
The one no one else wanted to handle.

Mathieson is known to have considered handing the keys back to the AFL.
Perhaps that would have been better for Carlton than the Collins, Smorgon, Kernahan Presidencies.
Then the AFL would have treated Carlton as its play thing just as they did in coherts with Collins re Dome decision.

Parkin!

AND... that [REDACTED] up human from Essendon* Evans didnt give us much of a chance to rebuild. The whole Commission let Evans have his way with Carlton.

Then there was the flower Samuels who was so anti anything Carlton it was a conflict of interest to have him decide on anything Carlton.

We let them flog us. Who? All of us, but especially our billionaire patrons who could have fought for our salvation....way back in 2002.

As for no regrets comment...he didnt seem to have that opinion on 360 the other night when I witnessed his comments live where no editor could have their way with him. So we're now believing what print media report? Since when did we start doing that?

I know he's a bogan, spoon fed in business, and not a visionary but I feel sorry for Kernahan TBH.

How about that flog from the umpire group who could see nothing wrong with the runner last week yet the AFL hand him a suspended sentence. Umpires have been haing there way with us since 2002. Remember that Hickmott free at the boundary against WCE? Yep? Well since way back then.

What hope did Kerna have against that backdrop?

Sure beats that redneck tune "Stand By Your Man"...

Maybe he can add it to the repertoire?

Seriously ???? I saw his first game and can say he was one of the best players I ever saw.

But that doesn't exempt him from criticism. By any measure, we have gone backward or at best tread water.

So by your measure, you'll be insisting James Hird also gets a free pass ?

James Hird broke the law
Sticks decisions be right wrong or indifferent were done so with the best interest of the club
29 years of serving the club in some form should be appreciated
What have you done for the club
