Robbo must be trying to sneak in some Carlton-bashing to ease his pain about the impending doom at the Scum:
http://www.heraldsun.com.au/sport/afl/stephen-silvagnis-selection-as-fullback-in-the-afl-team-of-the-century-is-a-little-known-secret/story-fn8wskg9-1226946216665I actually thought the story had some merit regarding Southby, Dench and Regan not being eligible for selection and then I saw Allen Aylett's comments on who he would have selected:
Quote:
Aylett’s opinion was that Silvagni would’ve missed out if the rule was not in place.
‘’It wouldn’t have even got to consideration for Stephen. It’s nothing against him, but we couldn’t consider the other two because they weren’t in the Hall of Fame.
‘’It was a loophole but an honest mistake.’’
So, Dench or Southby?
‘’Either of those two, both were great players,’’ Aylett said.
‘'As much as I appreciated Southby as a player, I would’ve gone for Dench because I saw every game he played. He was a brilliant player, a dasher, 20, 25 years ahead of his time.
‘’As for Silvagni, I don’t think he played that many games at full-back then either, because he did start off at centre half-forward.
So it's an outrage that the aforementioned players were ineligible for selection, but it's OK to be biased in your decision because you saw Dench play every game?
OK then - seems fair to hand it over to Dench immediately I suppose?

I find it amazing how many oppostion supporters want to talk down how good SOS was throughout his career. Southby may have been a better true Full-Back for sure, but they carry on like SOS was a 90's equivalent to Zac Dawson. I'm sure if Southby had got the gong instead there would have been an equal number of detractors lining up for their turn to discredit him in some way also.
