So, I was about to ask: "Is it a big deal?", and then I thought: "Why not Google?", and then I found these names: Shane Crawford, Glenn Archer, Mark Bickley, and thought to myself: "Aha, there's no criteria required for entry - LAME", and then I scrolled down the list of inductees and thought to myself: "Hmm, not bad ... not bad at all", and now here I am ...

Well I reckon it's brilliant news!

More importantly, it's news that doesn't involve some Carlton player showing a picture of his knob or punching somebody whilst he's out clubbing or an inept board member / ceo / president etc etc etc.

Congrats Kouta! Well done!

Just confirmed.

Well done Kouta. As a young teen / adult, you were my hero! Still have #43 on my jumper today.

At his best, he was incredible. Not many players can play Forward, Back, Midfield and dominate all spots like he did. Hell, he used to play in the ruck too!
An amazing athlete and great bloke too.

Good on him.

As an aside, I find the whole process a bit odd. 5 admitted each year. The list of those who haven't got on but have been eligible (and worthy) must be increasing quite steadily.

Well done Kouta and well spoken.

A player like mark bickley in the afl hall a fame is a joke never won a b & f and never all australian. Wayne johnsston 2 b&f s 1 all australian 4 premeirships , ken hunter 1 b&f 4 all australians (accordinng to blueseum) 3 premeirships should be in even before kouta.

Congrats Kouta. Absolute freak at his best which was probably the '99 - '01 period. Will never forget that wondrous stretch in 2000.

Nice one, ryan2000. Nice one, Kouta.

I loved going to games in the early 2ks knowing you'd be playing. @#$%&! beastly magician.

I once tried to describe a one handed pick up of yours from congestion to a mate and I ended up just ... laughing at the brilliance of it all. Reckon I tried to demonstrate it at the pub we were at, too.

Congratulations Kouta.

Right up amongst the greatest of all time.

I wonder when Shane Woewoedin will be accorded the same honour.

Fantastic News and We'll Deserved. I'll never forget a game of his against Norf at Princes Park in 2000. From memory he took 18 marks, kicked 5 and 30 plus possessions.

I have my reservations about him as a great clubman but he was definitely a great player and I got a huge amount of pleasure from watching him.

As others have mentioned the criteria is somewhat skewed when Kouta gets in before Wayne Johnston or Ken Hunter.

Johnston was a quadruple premiership player who could/should have won two Norm Smith Medals.

Line that up against Kouta's career and it's a little sad that he's not yet recognised as one of the greats of the game by the game itself.

As for the five per year thing - every year there are about five great players who come put of each draft. Five added to the hall of fame should be fine but at the moment they're playing catchup with the history of the game so it's way out of whack.

Vote 1 - Dominator for Hall of Fame.

Hear hear - Wayne Johnston should be in by now, maybe next year when "The Spew" has nothing to do with it.
