The MFB has accepted his application after all these years?

Good servant of club - but should have retired end of 2013, so we could have drafted an additional young rookie.

Maybe he injured himself at training and thought it was time.

Despite the obvious and perhaps deserved gags he's been pretty bloody good for us. Scotland is one of the silkiest smooth players to watch with the ball in his hands and his delivery on both feet is generally first class.

Watching him move reminds me of Mark Waugh at the crease. Both sublimely talented at their chosen sports and wonderful to watch.

Hope he gets a few more games and is retiring at season's end.

He's been a pretty good player for us
Over 200 games, and a B and F winner a few years back.
Came to us in the Dark Times, and had to play his first 4 years in a crap side before we started being g half decent in 2008.

He's going to the MFB and taking Simon White with him.

Agree a great player and punched above his weight.

But he went one season too long. That's 2 down.

Odd timing unless he has a long term injury. Unless we are going to pick youngsters and he's been told he will be in the 2s. After all the hard work of off season, you'd reckon he would want to play the year out. Has been a success story . So many of our trades seem to have us as the loser but we definitely won this one. Strong player with good skills on both sides. Possibly our best #29, not a number for the stars - Ian Harry, Greg Sharp, Ian Muller....Beauey and Simon M/C are about the only regulars I remember. Anyway interesting to see what the announcement is.

Then again, when you get to a certain age you just know that you aren't up for the hard grind of it anymore. IF THAT'S WHAT THE ANNOUNCEMENT IS!!

I have heard from a friend who knows some of his relatives that he wanted to retire at the end of last year and was talked into playing on by MM.
Not surprising news, not sure why he was a late withdrawal last game, maybe he has sustained an injury.
Has been a great servant of the club.

McKay: "It is with regret that I announce that Heath has been placed on the long term injury list and will retire at season's end."
