Was having the same conversation with my Dad this morning...it's an enticing model, although not one I see Carlton embracing.

*although I disagree with the last bit. Malthouse has been misquoted. He actually said he saw the club around 9 o'clock and approaching 11 o'clock of the Premiership window...

I'm sure I've mentioned something very similar before. It's what we should be doing unfortunately I can't see it happening

Are you and Verbs the same person, the same sort of passive aggressive behavior towards anyone negative about anything.

I think you may be right.

Anywho if we end up finishing bottom 6 I would expect some of our bigger names to be moved on for picks or younger players like St Kilda have done.

St Kilda take the 7 cents in the dollar approach to Finance whilst we take the 7 cents in the dollar approach to Strategic Planning and Appointing Key Personnel.

I think the saints are a long way back. They are doing okay and with luck cd have 2 flags in 09/10. They have aced it with 2 of their last 3 coaches - one dud in the middle. We have had a decade of dodgy coaching appointments and in-contract sackings and have no idea of the long term. Sts rely heavily on their greats in Roo and Hayes. I doubt they are ahead of us. We should get a high top 10 pick this year and maybe gd compo if Gibbs goes. In2018 I think we have the chance to be up there if we do everything right. Unfortunately we haven't got a gd track record in modern long term planning and development. Difference is the Sts put themselves in a position to win flags a few yrs back. We haven't done that for 20 yrs. if they are anywhere near us in 3-4 yrs it will be a further indictment if how we run the club.
