Post subject:  I am with you Carlton

Last week I was angry. A more insipid performance I cannot remember. A dead set rotten 6 days that followed. No highlights, no positives, it doesn't get any worse than being thumped by Essendon* to the tune of 80+ points. Couldn't wait for today's game against Melbourne. A victory would have at least erased last weeks defeat enough to the point where I could concentrate on today's positives and slowly let the Essendon* debacle fade away.

But what did we get? A bloody Melbourne victory. If I was angry last week after Essendon*, you can only imagine how I am now right? Well actually, no, I'm not angry at all. Disappointed yes. I could be angry and rightly so, as I see MANY here are, and have every right to be totally beside themselves with rage. Now I'm worried. Worried to the point of making sense of it all. Its for real being 0 - 4 and the time for spitting the dummy is over. Carlton are in trouble, and when something I love is in trouble its time think clearly and move wisely.

It is not the boards fault.
It is not the presidents fault.
It is not the coaches fault.
It is not Mick Malthouse's fault.
It is not the players fault.

So who is left to blame?

NO ONE!

These things happen. Underdone players, some bad form, bereft of confidence spreading like a virus throughout the list. A perfect storm if you will. This is where Carlton is at. Not Alastair Clarkson, Muhammad Ali, or the indestructible Chuck Norris can do anything about it.
Sometimes in life these things happen. Through no fault of anyone in particular, though head hunting for someone to blame is common in times like this, we have to face the reality Carlton is in the middle of a perfect storm.

Could things have been done better? Yes. Hindsight is a wonderful thing.

But right now as things stand, our beloved football team is at an all time low. Its not intentional, its not on purpose, they don't train and play to lose deliberately. They're in a collective rut at the minute, and the ONLY way to right this is persistence. Good old fashioned heads down bums up hard work until we get it right. Not sack the board, not sack the coach, not tear the list apart and trade off players for the sake of making changes because heads must roll.

We're either blue through to the core, or Richmond supporters. Take a pick.

Wooden spoon's, seasons lost, 100+ point belting's and the laughing stock of the AFL. I will wear whatever is dished up with pride. They may laugh now, so what. I will stick fat with Carlton until I am laughing back, no matter what it takes or how long it takes. I am completely over bitching and moaning about things not going the way I would like. Its like a bad habit, too easy to get caught up in, like ragity old ladies bitching and moaning about everything.

We ask and expect our players to stand tall, man up, suck it in and wear the bumps, yet for the majority of what I see here, its not really what we should be as Carlton supporters is it?

Posts filled with bitching and moaning bordering on disrespect of players and staff is something I would like to imagine Carlton supporters (@#$%&! the rest) are above.

Right now in this perfect storm, I am Carlton forever.

And that's not to say I won't chuck a wobbly from time to time, but it needs to be said when the chips are down, Carlton can rely on me to support them through thick and thin.

Come on boys keep at it, heads down, bums up, hard work until you get it right. Confidence will come and with it consistency. Play by play, quarter by quarter, week by week until we get it right.

GO BLUES

What Doc said, in politics as well as football clubs the saying is the same "you get the representation that you deserve".

If Chuck plays, the other team rolls over

PS: What were the Club's "strategic plan" targets?

I realise your intentions are good idle, but there is very little point to what you are saying. Despite the immediate negativity, chances are the majority of us here will still turn up to the Bulldogs game & cheer the team as you say you will.

You are probably right that it's hard to pinpoint one particular root cause of this mess, but when you saw our disposal today, it's hard t look past the fact this side just isn't that good. People are talking about the lack of effort, the weakness, how they're not playing for the coach etc, but I think that just avoids the reality that we can't tackle & we can't kick. Which is pretty shit.

We did what other clubs have done before; overestimated our list. Richmond did it under Frawley & haven't recovered. Brisbane did it under Voss & haven't recovered.

I don't know what the magic trick is to not buggering up drafts, but this club desperately needs a couple of seasons of success in the first few rounds.

I like the positivity and, like CK said, i will still stand by Carlton no matter what. And I do agree that no one sets out to achieve today's performance deliberately. And I do agree that it is probably more complex than "it's his fault!" BUT I also think that what the club needs to hear right now is not sympathetic encouragement. They need to hear that we KNOW they can do better in almost all facets. And that people who earn less than $50,000 who pay to help provide for those who earn $500,000 are rightfully dissatisfied with the efforts of many in the club from the PR team to the players to the coaching and fitness staff and the board.
Encouragement would be patronising. As if we thought they were trying their hardest and this is the best they can do.

Like ur positivity but agree with a previous poster , we always making excuses for these guys , as supporters we have to come hard and expect more , also reading people starting to support other teams , my old man would have killed me if I wanted to barrack for collingwood bc they were gonna be good
