Cachia should get the early promotion.
All the other rookies are very (very) raw .
Wood is only a backup, could only see him getting a promotion via a serious injury to one of the rucks, hope he can assist our young mids providing first service in the VFL.

Agree in theory, in practice think its a greater risk to be in the position where we need to pick Wood, but hamstrung by lack of LTIs.

Essentially have Cripps, Ellard, Cachia, Curnow and Bell fighting for the one spot as it is.

That makes sense. Maybe we will promote him just in case.

I think its just in my head the Cachia needs to make an impression this season or he'll be back to SA.

I hope Luke Reynolds steps up and gets promoted as he offers something we dont have. Cachia is a similar player to Curnow, Bell, Ellard, Carrazzo etc. He does not really offer anything special.

Hopefully we can take our time with the extra promotion, they will surely get trialed in the pre-season games and make their decision from there.

I hope Cachia is not promoted as a given.

It will be very interesting to see how he goes in the pre-season matches.
Would be great if he shows something!

I doubt Cripps will play this year.

Ellard and Cachia are handy back-ups and Curnow and Bell won't be fighting it out for the one spot. They're very different players.

I have no idea but given what I put forward before, Reynolds wouldn't surprise.

Scotland is obviously one and Cachia possibly the other but we do have an LTI in hand also, should we need to use it.

I just hope it's not Woods though as that will mean trouble.

For some reason I thought that Scotland was already a given for a main list spot despite taking up a rookie list spot, so I really didn't consider him for the extra position available.

I also seem to remember in an article from somewhere that Wood was developing into a handy tall forward type who was quite a reliable kick and marking option and that he would be used as a back up ruck man to rotate with the first ruck if/when needed.

Would love too see Reynolds step up and play some
quality nab footy.
The kid has a lovely kick, moves well and can run..
Not sure how big he's tank is, but would add something
special across half forward with menzel.
Reckon both ellard and cachia are in trouble...

..now that we have Wood as our ruck insurance, if we are serious about him being ruck insurance than he simply has got to be a nominated rookie.. ..it's easy for any given ruck to have a small injury that keeps them out of the side [or reduces their effectiveness when in the side], but it's not serious enough to actually be a LTI.. ..then there's also the possibility of suspensions occurring, which rucks can suffer from, usually by tackling too high with vigour [coat-hangering].. ..or there's the shitty chance that we suffer LTI's to other players before problems hit our ruck stocks..

..i understand and appreciate having Wood as an above standard VFL ruckman helping develop our kids in the ressies.. ..and we could have had him do so [possibly] as a ressie listed player, but since we rookie'd him to also double up versatility in our option of playing him in the seniors, then he needs to be able to come into the side for any and every reason, we need to nominate him.. ..otherwise, he's not very good ruck insurance at all..

1-2 weeks.....................that's much worse.
With our current set-up we have two rookies for immediate elevation and a LTI for if and when we want to activate it.

Scotland will be elevated immediately and we don't know for sure after that.
Cachia isn't a gimme yet.

Cripps will ideally be a prime extractor, Bell maybe also

Curnow and Cachia are taggers

Ellard is a small defensive forward
