Yeah, so, anyway....last night, you said that when I get to 28, you'll "stick my arse up your dick"....is that true? ![]() ![]() ![]() Anyway, what I was going to ask is that you said that Andrew Walker won't be anywhere near as good as the majority of the 1st rounders from last year's draft picked after him (Ray, Sylvia, McLean were the main ones mentioned) Still believe this? Anyone else do too? |

I too was a bit shocked to here this come from Danny. The thing with Walker is that he needs to ease up on the jets before he disposes of the ball. Granted he is a zippy bloke, but his skills last night were a bit off. However, in saying that, in terms of AFL development he is still a baby and still has much to learn. A bright future this one has, mrrmmm. ![]() ![]() ![]() |

![]() ![]() ![]() Glad I am not the only one that thinks that. Still, he gets the ball, has terrific periphal vision and just has class stamped all over him. His disposal WILL get better. As my idol Malcolm blight once said "You cant teach a kid how to get the ball but you can teach him how to use it" |

Yeah well i'm a perfectionist! besides i needed somehting to complain about and the way the boys are playing it's getting harder and harder (you can have fun with the Cammo) to find fault. But what i think i was trying to say was the Walker really needs to improve his disposal if he is going to be an elite footballer. Has the talent. Now we want the skills. But I'd take him over Cooney is a flash ![]() ![]() ![]() |

I it just me, or do others also see a huge similarity between Walks and Skinny? In fact, there was a moment when Walks took a pack mark, and I could have sworn it was him. Similar running and ball-bouncing style too. |

But I'd take him over Cooney is a flash ![]() ![]() ![]() Cooney looked the goods last night but like Walker his disposal let him down. Not that i swap him for 1AW, but he will be a very good player for several years. If he had kicked the two 9 pointers he tried and buried the one he hit the post with, he would have had a great game and been BOG for the doggies. Then again...... if my auntie had balls............... ![]() Walker only really had one bad disposal last night IIRC but it did cost us a goal. I thought he played a reasonable game without setting the world on fire. |

I agree with the general gist of what is being said here. He is fast, talented and capable of doing freak things on the field, but the main problem is he tries to do them pretty much every time he goes near the ball. He needs to have a look at Nick Stevens and Heath Scotland and learn from them about playing percentages. It's a maturity thing. He'll figure it out. It might not hurt to give him a few tagging assignments here or there so he can view the percentages from a slightly different perspective. It's tough on these new recruits these days. Like it or not, they're all going to get compared with Judd, which is probably not really fair. |

It's also easy to forget that he was the youngest player in the competition last year and he is still only 18. I would remind people what Kouta's disposal used to be like, especially when he first came to the Club. I think we should just sit back and enjoy his development. He will be an ace, it's just a question of when. |

![]() gee, first it was raquel you where going to bend over, now its cammo, let it be known people, DB on a few beers is a "feisty" character ![]() ![]() in all seriousness. give the kid time - you cant do what he did when he snapped that goal without having serious talent. First you have to have the balls to attempt something like that, then you have to have the ability to do it. He did both of them and did it well He will be fine and in the long run IMO well be a better player than Cooney. Cooney gets plenty of it at the moment becuase they look for him becuase he is probably one of their top talents. Walker isnt in the same boat. We have plenty around him that are more effecient with the ball so we dont make such a target of him. |

Q If you had the opportunity now to replace Walker with anybody else from last years draft would you ? For me i certainly wouldnt and although i agree his disposal is ordinary at times patientce is a virtue and this kid WILL be a star. p.s Dannyboy you were very positive with his pre season training and by all reports he was a standout trainer. Are you expecting to much to soon ? |

I didn't want to sound anti-walker or anything, but his disposal reminds me a little of the way our Braddles used to blaze away sometimes. Maybe its part of a game plan to get the ball moving on. Once this kid learns to pass like Stevo - watch out opposition. DH |

That's an excellent point about Kouta's disposal. It definately wasn't the best for his first few years with us but boy did it turn out to be good! I think Walker could definately replicate this sort of improvement in his kicking. Brent Stanton from the Bombers had shocking disposal last year but aparently worked very hard at it over the off season and he'd improved out of sight when we played them in the first round of the Wizard Cup. So I'm sure Walks has it in him to improve. |
