If it was Carlton in the seat Essendon* currently sits in (that is "shocked to be sitting here"), would you want to see any and all participants punished harshly, for the good of the game, and the long term health of the club? Or would you wish for some, like club legends to be given a bit of a free pass and an easy time by the press based on confected past glories? As difficult as it would be in the short term, I'd hope that the drug cheating scourge would be driven from the club by harsh penalties, in line with WADA/ ASADA penalties, to cut the cancer out, and to prevent it happening again. That's the only way it could benefit the club, and the game in the long term. |

I'd become disillusioned with the game I reckon and lose interest. |

Incidentally, the media would be in total agreement that we should be punished to the full extent of the law, no questions asked and no excuses made. |

As I said to a friend (that many of you know) on Friday afternoon at Princes Park 'To give credit where it's due - only Collingwood would have been able to fight a better PR campaign than the Bombers have...' But had it been us - I'd have walked long ago. Carlton couldn't have gone through another upheaval - and one worse than the last. You might as well have 'locked the place up and thrown away the key' - because as I've stated before, a massive part of Carlton died a little over a decade ago. The cancer has been cut out - but perhaps it needs to win a premiership cup before it's in complete remission. Had we been in Essendon*'s shoes - death row...and I'd be pleading for a quick death. Punish hard and punish forever. |

Punish hard and punish forever. You may be right, but the bombers also violated the salary cap, on more than one occasion too. But never received the sanctions and psychological trauma we did. The Bombers like any other club must fight to prevent infractions. Any other club would do the same. The big clubs may have more resources and the AFL watching their back in order to protect one of their premier licenses, but this situation is international now. And WADA want a scalp for their S0 clause which was recently introduced into their code. What better way than to smash a team in an insignificant sport in a small nation at the ass end the world? S0 violations potentially are more serious that S2 and the other clauses, because S0 deals with drugs not approved for human consumption. Not even the manufacturer and inventor of the drug can Telly us fully what the drug can do and its side effects and interactions with other drugs. Many people believe that the EFC* players will escape infractions. The spin and muddying of the truth has been utterly disgraceful by the media in general and the actors in this tragedy.. I will be totally astonished if infractions are not handed out out. Like mr John Fahey, ex WADA head said a few weeks before Sir Reedie took over the job, "it's not if, but when infractions will be handed out" |

I think many Carlton supporters would behave exactly the same way that Essendon* supporters have behaved. After all, 11 years ago, many Carlton supporters took on carrying a grudge against the AFL for some strange reason. If it was Carlton, I'd want the flower cheats rooted out and punished, just like I did 11 years ago, and just like I do now. AND, if Jobe Watson, who used to be my favourite non Carlton footballer, never plays another game because he's banned, then I'm all for it. Hammer them into dust, and if Carlton does it,...... Hammer them I to dust. |

Considering the shit we've already been through, if Carlton was stupid enough to go down the doping route, that would be more than enough for me to walk away from Carlton and all things AFL. |

Anyone involved should be kicked out of the game. Simple. |

People react differently when their backs are against the wall Some choose to stand and fight - others just roll over and die I think whats happened at Essendon* will galvanise them and make them stronger Sure if the infractions come in they will hurt for a while but I cannot see Essendon* feeling self pity and blaming the world for their woes for years to come like Carlton did . When we were hit we turned on each other and went looking for that white knight to ride in and save us The loss of draft picks was a excuse for under performing for years and yet now when we have an abundance of draft picks our performances are still quite ordinary . Part of Carltons problem was the person we had in charge - He was political and people despised him for his politics and arrogance rather than what he was doing - We brought in a whimp and he rolled over and the whole club had that woe is me attitude . The bombers wont do that you can see it - that week when they were handed the penalties they grouped together and come out and beat us . If the roles were reversed they would have ground us into the dirt. Enjoy Essendon* suffering while it last because it wont last long |

I would be incredibly embarrassed if it was us - again. I'd want it dealt with harshly and quickly. |

Just the thought of another Carlton sanction freaks me out. We are still recovering from the last. I couldnt go through another TBH. It's not Carlton under the spotlight, nor a Carlton player, but 15 players, their coaches and others are involved, thank goodness. Punish the players and the club because anyone under the influence of performance enhancing substances playing against an opponent who hasn't indulged is outright brutality, especially in a physical game like Aussie rules. Lock 'em up for assault. |
