1. Bruce Doull 2. Alex Jesaulenko 3. Greg Williams 4. Wayne Johnston 5. Steven Silvagni 6. Geoff Southby 7. Craig Bradley 8. Anthony Koutoufides 9. Brendan Fevola 10. Stephen Kernahan 11. Wayne Harmes (Obviously big nick could slide in there, but I wasn't lucky enough to see him play. Players that were ahead of their time like Walls, Syd Jackson and Crosswell are also highly ranked.)

A very good topic Cretylus! It goes without saying our individual lists depend on how old we are. I started barracking for Carlton because of Bruce Dull, but he was at the tail end of his career so doesn't make my list. Here goes: 1: Greg Williams 2: Steve Silvagni 3: Craig Bradley 4: Anthony Koutoufides 5: Peter Dean 6: Brett Ratten 7: Fev 8: Andrew McKay 9: Fraser Brown 10: harry Madden 11: Chris Judd A shame I can't get more than one current player in there, and he's bottom of the list too. |

If your talking about influence on particular games Kouta, Williams, Johnston, Crosswell & Bosustow played some of the most unbelievable games I have seen from any individual players. Motley could of easily been one of the greats. Gee he could play. For how I rank them as greats of the club: 1. Doull 2. Jezza 3. Williams 4. Nicholls 5. Kernahan 6. SOS 7. Southby 8. Hunter 9. Bradley 10. Johnston 11. Ashman My Grandfather who umpired in the VFL said Soapy Vallence was a Star but hard for me to judge. |

Good to see madden there, a very underrated player that had longevity and was rarely beaten in the ruck. Also peter dean just missed my top 11. I have another list of carlton players who I would pick first, irrespective of talent etc and Dean is one of the first picked. I cannot recall Dean coming off the ground or at the end of a game without putting his heart, soul, blood, sweat and tears into the contest for his team mates and for the jumper. One of my all time favorites. Ratts is in a similar class. Also couldn't fit hunter in, but Kenny is the bravest player I have seen - from any team |

When we were really hopeless Cretylus, the player I would have picked first to come out of retirement and show the team the way would have been Peter Dean. He'd have taught those blokes all they needed to know about pride in the jumper. |

I started watching Carlton in 1982 and didn't see Doull in his prime- Sticks Diesel Bradley Johnston Kouta Ratten SOS Andy McKay Judd Madden Fev At his best, Kouta would be #1 but he slides because he wasn't as consistent as some others and injury cut him down in his prime. Fev was top 5 on talent but he was more or less a one position player and his best and worst were miles apart. I didn't truly appreciate how good Madden was until later, but if you watch old games from the mid 80s-90s he was dominate. Apologies to a few from the '95 team, particularly Dean, Sexton & Brown. Hopefully Murph, Gibbs & Kreuzer will make it onto the list before the end of their careers... |

Out of interest has Parko ever listed the best players he coached? Obviously he'd have some Hawks in there, but you'd reckon the majority would be Bluebaggers. And given he coached us when we had our act together, I think it would be fascinating to see how it stacks up with the lists we've put together here. |

I know that Parko rates the dominator very highly due to his performances in finals and big games. I suspect parko is like many other coaches and looks at how players perform under pressure in big games and finals etc. I recall getting Barrassi's top 31 players and he had Matthews at number 1 and Big Nick at number 2, but nominated Big Nick as best captain. These lists are very subjective from a fan point of view because we don't know what is happening behind the scenes and what roles the players are given and what adversity the players are performing under. My list of carlton players that are brave and team orientated is slightly different |

Been watching the Blues since 1965 and in no particular order. Big Nick Kenny Hunter Diesel Williams Kouta Doully Jezza Geoff Southby Sticks Kernahan Braddles Juddy SOS Ashman Yeah I know I have 12 but wasn't going to leave Rod Ashman out. Very underrated rated rover and almost won the Brownlow one year. Best of our famous mosquito fleet. IMHO. |

Love the Kenny Hunter nomination at number 2 - the bravest player I have seen play for any team. His acts on the field were bordering on sheer stupidity - surprised he wasn't killed on the field. Ashman was one the greatest rovers the game has seen. Natural and almost kicked 400 goals which is an astonishing feat/ Could kick on both sides and tackled like a bulldog. Surprised you couldn't fit Teddy in |
