If the rumours are correct and Greg Swann is on his way to St Kilda, who do you think should replace him?

Assuming Sticks doesn't want to relinquish his President's gig, or course.

Imagine the tears that would be spilt on keyboards here if that happened at PP.

Grant O'Brien - Woolworth's CEO

http://www.smh.com.au/business/the-gent ... 1cymi.html

...but I think we're going to have to be realistic if the salary is < $400k.

There are two Ian's that come to mind. Former player Ian Herman might be a good candidate.

...or we could groom current AFL Players' Association General Manager of Player Relations, Ian Prendergast.

What we could do is get one of the COOs from a successful club.... I don't think Hawthorn have regretted getting Fox in from Geelong when he was COO under Cook.

It's easy to say Cook, but looking the various factions on the board and their expectations of input to the club - a CEO with a strong record and big influence in their current role is probably going to look at the mess we have and think they are better off staying where they truly can make a difference.

As Doc says re: the 'real world'... unless they have someone very specific in mind from a smaller organisation, heavyweights in the corporate world would be out of our league in terms remuneration.

I'm pretty sure we could work a Carlton-centric 'Dumb Ways to Die' jingle into the pre-season launch.

I'd make a quite dangerously incompetent CEO, but if the club is in need of a Chief Creative Officer, well…

I wouldn't buy a Marimekko-themed alternative strip but the thought of a Takahashi Kougei-inspired replica wooden Premiership Cup sounds positively alluring.

There's really only one candidate, and you all know it.

Essendon* went on an exhaustive, international (intergalactic for all we know) search to find a CEO, and after all that hard work and scouring of the endless possibilities that exist in (and out of) the workforce, decided that the only person IN THE ENTIRE WORLD capable of executing the duties of an AFL club CEO position...... was Paul Little.

So if we are TRULY going to follow the Pratt maxim of hiring only the best, and not the best available, then Little is our man.

MAKE IT HAPPEN.

Would be the best thing to happen for this footy club.... Not a fan of his work.

Dont get me wrong, Swann has put a lot of hard work in and as a Carlton supporter you need to appreciate any work put in for our club... but I believe that he landed with his arse in the butter at the pies. The team were on the rise and had Eddie with his network of connections that made him look a lot better as an operator than he has shown to be at our club. While other clubs push ahead with membership numbers we are now middle of the pack. If you look at our reporting, if it werent for Pokie revenue would we have made the profits we did on a smaller revenue base than the other "big" Melbourne clubs.....

As for the Judd deal... lets be honest.. it came down to two factors $$ and being prepared to get the deal done. Carlton NEEDED Judd at all costs and would have sold the farm for him and therefore both of those criteria we were happy to abide by (with Dick Pratt assisting).

I view Swann's role as something that was going along pretty well initially and then got a bit stale. I'm sure there were plenty of areas of professionalism he brought in from Collingwood and now it seems from the outside that the stream of new ideas has run dry. That's just my feeling anyway.

There's a few big ticket items (playing at the G, debt reduction, member increases) that we seem to be stagnating on. We might need a non footy person to slot in and focus on getting the business side of the club in shape.
