A little story in the Herald Sun today stating Luke Williams the recruiter we poached from Geelong left two weeks ago due to personal reasons.
The club has said that this will have no impact on the upcoming draft.

Just another example of our dysfunctional recruiting department.

This is why I am so critical of them. The worst in the league. Our Management need to clear the decks and start again.

The truth will eventually come out.

It's just embarrassing. How can we have Rogers, Williams & Hughes all in the one department? Out of those three who has been the involved with the most success?

How do we know how good Williams is ..?
for all we know Rogers or Hughes are better.

If recruiters are allowed to come and go as they like, they cant be elite...i can guarantee you that.

This guy did it two times in one season mid season....

Footy is such a professional game ...!!!

Personal reasons...hmmm...I once left a job for "personal reasons". I was promised a far different role to what was taking place and the directors and I couldn't see a way forward that would work. One wonders if Mr. Swann guarenteed something to entice Williams from Geelong and never delivered on that promise? Perhaps Rogers, Hughes and co had no intention of making that arrangement work...there's more than meets the eye with this one.

I don't personally know how good Williams is but he came from a great system. Surely that means something? Why did we chase him? What role was he offered? Why was he not contracted?

There is something that is not right about this whole thing. :?

It's possible, Doc, although in fairness to him I won't speculate. It's disappointing to hear because if there's one area in the club where new ideas and fresh blood is required, it's recruiting. You can only conclude that this further entrenches Hughes which is an ongoing embarrassment to everyone involved in sanctioning a pay check to him from the club. I would describe it as embracing mediocrity but mediocrity as a description of that department is far too kind.

Well said. It defies any logic as to why Hughes is still there.

If only we could speak to someone involved in recruiting at the club to find out what happened.

You won't get a straight answer. Too many people trying to justify they're role instead of doing what's best for the CLUB. It's a cultural issue

Not sure we'd end up with the real story. There have been 'whispers' around for weeks. I shall commence my own line of investigation. We need to find what photos Wayne Hughes has, who they are of and what compromising position they are in. It's the only explanation as to his being on the payroll.

The club has made some ruthless decisions the past week or so.

Gill Jeferey was made redundant this week.

With all due respect - one's an Admin Assistant - the other was meant to be 2IC of recruiting...

"He's been gone for a couple of weeks," Carlton chief executive Greg Swann confirmed last night. "All the work was done so it's not an issue from a preparation point of view."

There is a chance Williams could return to the Cats given they had still not filled the position he vacated six months ago.

I smell a rat. He's just been in our system to steal our ideas. To steal Alwyn

Finally the truth is revealed.
