Just a note requesting some assistance on fond memories / comments / observations in relation to sponsors who have adorned the clothing of the Mighty Blues for a potential article on carltonfc.com.au.

Today's sponsors include Toshiba (sort of), Subaru, Optus, K&S Freighters, Nike and Visy. Last year we had Mediplan (who probably wont get a mention!) and a few others but like tv adds, footy sponsors fade quickly for me.

There was Avco - from what period?
Hyundai - i think they were our sponsors for our late 1990's Night Final Win?
Bertocchi Blues? I think they were a shorts sponsor for a while?
M&Ms - just for a game!

Any help?

ps dont list IMB who betrayed us and went over to the Bummers....

I'm pretty sure that Avco were our first jumper sponsor, beginning in the mid 70s. Don't know when they stopped, but they were around for a loooong time.

CUB between 1989 and 1994
Mayne from 2001 to 2003
Bertolli - as shorts sponsors in 1993/94

they should cover some of the gaps :)

Brashs and Delta (I think) as short sponsors in the 90s

I was cleaning up a couple of weeks ago and found my old Avco training top. I would've worn it between 83-86 when I was playing junior footy.

Bertolli, of course, not Bertocchi. Were they a pasta sauce company?

Delta - is that the car company, the energy company... or something else?

Avco definitely mid 70s through to early 80s (maybe until 83-85ish?).

Wasn't Esanda Finance one too? I think Avco became Esanda and then they became our sponsor/jumper sponsor.....

I'm almost certain that AVCO took us through from the 70s all the way until 1988, and then we changed to CUB in 1989. Coincidentally that was the year when things started to go not so well at Carlton- AVCO were a VERY successful sponsor!

"Mix Noilly Pratt"

"Athena Permanent Building Society"

thanks... this is great feedback in a short period of time.

would love it if we could list more of those obscure references...companies that used to sponsor the ground, even local companies that did it once but had to pull out. i might give some a call if they are still open and ask why they don't sign up again!
