Beaten by a team that wanted it more and gave us a lesson in finals football.

Better team that was embarrassed last week. How did we think we could win

Of course there are posters who think its all Micks fault

Just wait, won't take long

It's got nothing to do with hardness and intent, desire to run and run and run, tackling ability. I mean the uncontested possession count is meaningless

That ground ruined a very ordinary spectacle.

People are allowed to disagree about the cause of the team's problems. .

Lack of fitness is not the same as lack of work rate. Team clearly suffered from 6 day break after spending all energy hauling Tigers in. You lot are far too critical.

You can see in the last qtr where the lack of rotations caught up with Sydney we were competitive again. We need 1 or 2 quality KPP's and a play maker. People forget how little the difference between loss and win really is in the AFL.

Did we lay a tackle all night? It looked like we were killed in contested possessions - taking away the soft last quarter when Sydney were playing 2 loose in our forward line.

Thirty nine tackles for the night.

That's your work rate right there.
Forget about long kicks.

Can't win if no work rate

Pros:

The big boys (other than Casboult) were all terrific.
Like Bell's game.
Simmo's a star.
Murphy and Gibbs were beaten, but serviceable.
Yarran's intensity has been up to the mark for about a month now.
Ran it out to the end.
Sydney will be missing a few more next week.

Cons:

An absolute craphole of a venue.
Our goalkicking. Didn't deserve to win, yet still ended up with more scores.
Judd looked lame.
Tackling was very, very poor.
Too many simply didn't contribute.

The so called leaders who stood up last week - Murphy, Gibbs, Waite, Betts, Robinson - were AWOL tonight

That's fine if their ambition is to be winners in the first round of finals

I actually think they need to start over. They have weaknesses all over the ground. Jamison and Walker down back are insipid tacklers. You can't win premierships with such poor tacklers down back. That's just the tip of the ice berg. Up fwd we have the problem with the amigos, who are soft, inconsistent, and can't run through the middle. In midfield we lack depth because the club have failed to read the landscape by neglecting to prioritize midfielders in their recent drafting - our emerging mids are all B Grade talent. Malthouse might be our Roos - not there for the long haul, try and build a culture for the future but that's about it.

Finished ninth and schooled on finals football by a top four team

We got carried away with the Richmond win... We're way off the mark

The ground wasn't up to AFL standard. Ridiculous.

Swans went hard, got a big lead then shut up shop. Crap game to watch.

We seemed to panic all night and just hacked the ball. Didn't give our forwards a chance. When the ball was placed out in front we didn't do too badly but most of the time the ball was just bombed on top of their heads.
