I've offered wondered if the reasons for our poor accuracy in front of goal was dude to the height difference of the goal posts at Visy Park compared to the goal posts at every AFL ground.

The goal posts at Visy Park are the original height they were before the AFL introduced much higher goal posts to help goal umpires with their decision making.

I don't know if it would help but if the purpose of a lot of training is to re-create game day conditions then those posts should be identicle to the match day posts.

Must have some steel suppliers as sponsors, get it done.

Forget the steel suppliers, let's build them out of recycled cardboard. We have a sponsor who could sort that out.

I concur. It's a valid point. I'll make a note of it. Will make for a good ice-breaker when I chat to the President.

Do Visy supply Aus Post with its cardboard post tubes?

Could get Ahmed involved as well.

Not as silly as it sounds. Think of Bradman hitting the golf ball with a stump...not a cricket bat, a stump.

My thoughts exactly. The game may have come a long way skills-wise in many areas, but when you consider many of the great forwards were from less professional eras, maybe there's something to the old-school methods.

Before we get too carried away, we should check the height of the goalposts Collingwood use at training and copy that.

They're AFL game regulation height.

If the new goal posts were any good they'd be contracted.

Just a question .....does anybody know if our guys ever train at night? We play most of our games at night or with the roof closed at Etihad.
I would think training under the conditions you play in would be an advantage probably more than the height of the goal posts.
Can anyone confirm? Its something I've wondered about for a while.
