What for? When the guy went to Coll, he saw what they had, then started clearing the deadwood. Clearly he will do the same here, Why blame the coach? |

Sack those players who play without passion or commitment to the club, their team mates and their supporters, not the coach. I am looking forward to seeing changes made to the playing list over the next couple years. Hopefully they include some people coming in who possess some sort of leadership qualities and the preparedness to work hard to achieve success. |

bax wrote: Seroiusly discuss!!! Please..... Lets sack MM after all it's his fault that we have a very average list, that lacks leaders, skill, aggression, a strong mentality and very little promising youth coming through. He arrives at the club, has his hands tied due to contracts in place. Lets see what he does at the end of the year. At Collingwood he got the best out of many average footballers, to date it hasn't worked here and I'm sure he thought our list was better than it actually is. We are paying the price for being a very average football club for many years, it's starts from the top, recruitment, list management, development the whole lot. Good luck MM. |

I seriously think at times our supporters are as soft as we say our players are... When times are tough lets just sook about it and sack the coach!! Ridiculous. Are we struggling? Yes. But this shouldn't surprise many people looking at the list. Don't worry about the 'spin'....the list has not been good enough for some years now. Whether you agree with the treatment of Ratts or not it's irrelevant now. What some people are proposing is non-sensical. Leave MM do his job and be patient. Is it any wonder opposing club supporters talk about us the way they do! ![]() ![]() Can't believe we are talking about a sacking less than one year in... |

Its getting a bit Pagan isn't it. Poor darlings. This group are uncoachable. When the going gets tough, the coach gets going. They never change. Insert Stage left Paul Roos (or insert the next victim) too. Our quick fix culture in the boardroom and locker room is so different to every other club. Malthouse must be backed to stay the three years, whether its three spoons, players need to know this is the journey no getting off when the road gets bumpy, just Cramer St stopovers. |

Wish we could but we can't. When we fail next season he'll probably quit. He didn't sign up for this, neither did we. |

Commentary got it right last night as we struggled "Carlton players need to get their head around the certainty of MM being at the club next year ........test is with the players to stand up" |

The old fellow is asleep at the wheel. Give him a director of coaching gig and get a hungry young coach in. ...at the moment I enjoy watching Richmond more or the dogs. Members will be dropping off in big numbers as predicted before this horrible appointment. |

Ratten was sacked due to the teams under performing year when expectations were high. Now Malthouse is here and it seems that the team is STILL under performing. There seems to be one common factor here,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,the players !! I'm putting my faith into Malthouse to do what ever he needs to do to turn things around. IMO, looking at Geelong when Mark Thompson left in 2010, Geelong could have replaced him with any coach and they would have still been a top 4 side. Let the clean out begin !!! |

I dont recall too many people here reminiscing about our 1986 and 1993 and 99 runner up efforts. Unlike St Kilda, we're here for flags. Everything else is failure and rightly so. |

No, but we seem to reminisce a lot about losing a semi final by 3 points 2 years ago. They lost 1 of those games by a kick, was that all MM's fault? The point was he had them challenging, which is at least more than we've done for a dozen years. Whether that result in the ultimate prize comes down to a combination of a lot of things. People can talk book tours, salary caps and arrogance all they want but it is not uncommon for recent coaches to not come in and make multiple cuts before having at least 1 year behind the wheel. I could imagine the reaction in here - and probably from those at the club who need instant success to survive - if he walked in last year and said "trade Gibbs, Yarran, Betts, Laidler and Murphy". The place almost went into meltdown when Garletts name was rumoured despite many wanted him dropped throughout 2012. Forget about Ellard, Joseph, Davies, Duigan, etc etc. There was also little interest on the rucks. It's not like in previous years the groundwork in recruiting, development, list management, high performance, leadership, forward planning etc had been down for Mick and he was going to be the icing on the cake that suddenly took us that next step. You can have an outside impression, but its not until you see things first hand that you can truly see what needs to be done. The old step back to go forward. St Kilda also made finals when we last did. Being 2 years older, doesn't assume success. Waite, Judd, Carrazzo, Scotland, Jamison, Murphy are nowhere near those levels. So often we resent our club for the quick fix, but are now frustrated its not happening. If Mick is on for the haul, then his age is irrelevant as long as he has a long term vision which many at the club probably don't have. If I doesn't work I'll be first in line with my flaming torch. Until then we can just go around on circles. |

All he has achieved this year is to fragment an already instable player mentality by resorting to public temper tantrums and individual condemnation. He will turn the list over and get what in return? Yes now we have to rebuild because he has made sure the current senior players will never again play the games they can under him. What a pathetic exercise this has been. |
