Anyone able to spread any light on the composition of the match committee?

Who sits on it?

Mick Malthouse picks the team each week.

The only interest Thursdays team has for me is to see if Armfield is named at CHB. Seems they got bored with that joke eventually.

Who plays week to week isn't a big concern. The only players who are absolute key to our structure are Waite and Hendo. The rest are just names on a whiteboard. Structure is more imporant than personnel at this stage.

Swanny has kicked a footy....he also pays the players.

I think that group represents the key stakeholders of the list....I guess the only other person or report required is that of the club doctor.

That is why we are sitting outside the 8 and an average Club.

A President and CEO have no role in Football game day selections.

This is an MC that is not willing to take risks. By taking a risk there are gains and losses but at least you can formulate a future team configuration. Continually going back to the well and picking the same fringe players does not help in the long run. Its short sighted and maintains the status quo but of course ... limits progress.

With all due respect - this is probably one aspect of Stephen Kernahan's position at the club that I feel completely at ease with. He has been on the selection committee (at least to my knowledge) since 1998. That equates to 359 games of football. He played 251 for Carlton before he joined the board in '98, so that's 610 games of football for Carlton in an official capacity.

There's more to it than form and fitness. If you honestly think this is why we are sitting outside the 8 and an average club, then you are delusional.

I had thought when he came across from Collingwood, he had the same job...right down to sitting on the Match Committee...which he did at Collingwood...and you know what we've done over the past 7 or so years is follow Collingwood's lead....which we should be grateful for....because had we not invested hundreds of thousands in altitude...we might have have followed Essendon*'s lead and invested hundreds of thousands in a doping program.

Doc, I'm no expert on corporate governance matters, but do you have a view as to the appropriateness of a president being on match committee in that respect?

My view is that Stephen Kernahan has - to my knowledge - sat on the Match Committee for years whilst a director of the club, whether that be in the role of Board Member, Interim President or President. I'm pretty confident he can separate his duties. I don't have a problem with it.

Swann would be the only CEO in the comp to be in that position wouldnt he Doc ? for what its worth Doc,i reckon front of house and back of house is a recipe for disaster as i have stated many times.Brought many a footy club undone that sort of caper.

How've we gone in those 359 games?
