Unfortunately for Kreuz, it might not be up to him. The romantic in me wants him to stay for his full career. Aside from that I just want to see the club competing for flags again. So I'm happy to adopt a needs must approach, if that means some favourite sons make way for a believable and serious approach at rounding out our playing list I'll have to accept that. |

I wonder if Josh Kennedy would have said the same at this stage of the season several years ago! |

Could have been a better choice of headline - but I suppose like all our young players under the Carlton Player Development Program they really ARE going nowhere. ![]() |

Yes i was thinking "Kreuz, you and your teammates are suppose to take us to the premiership. Not nowhere! That's how you're suppose to be thinking!" |

A player is within their rights to say no if we want to dump them for another untried player. Croad is the only example I can think of a club moving on a quality young player for picks. Kreuzer isn't a total @#$%&! up like Fevola who needed to be moved on. Extra money isn't a motivation for Kreuzer who knocked back their offer to stay in Victoria. He'll stay. |

You round out your list by getting more picks and improving your bottom end. Not a lot separating pick two or 3 from picks in the top ten or top twenty. Every side has quality players and young stars, but you need to trade well and hit the mark with your second and third round picks to be great. Sydney went to the next level after smashing their trades and drafts since 2007. Johnston, Hanneberry and Pyke Kennedy, McGlynn, Rohan, Mumford, Jetta, Reid, Seaby and Bradshaw Lamb, Parker and Johnson Mitchell, Lockyer, Brown, Armstong, Morton and Walsh Tippett, Towers, Marsh, Membrey and Dick All in spite of Roos trying to upgrade picks to get Dustin Martin and pick six from Carlton for O'Keeffe. There's more than one way to skin a cat. |

So far were the ones being skinned.... |

Well I've given my untouchable list. If Yarran + 1st rounder gets it done, then get it done. Gibbs I could just about talk myself in to. Although I wouldn't give up Gibbs plus our first. Kreuzer plus a first I would do in a heartbeat. |

I agree with your first point only. |

I like all the players I mentioned kk, and wouldn't be disappointed if they stayed. But to steal a phrase from an american writer - From the GWS point of view, 4 quarters will not make a dollar in this trade. they will want a premium returns for that pick - player and pick(s). There will be no hoodwinking. No 3 or 4 player smorgasboard of average junk who couldn't help take us anywhere with a lower round pick thrown in. If we are all in on Boyd, it will require that level of pain. Although having used that word, I don't think the pain would be severe if we shipped Yarran or Kreuzer. Kreuzer might be better than our other ruckmen, but no-one can say definitively that he is or will be. fact is right now he's a nice, average to above average player and nothing more. for all his effort, how does his work on the ground actually deliver beyond keeping him in the TV screen a bit longer than other ruckmen? Effort is great but at some point I want to see him tangibly, unequivocally impact a game for us. Frankly if I were GWS I wouldn't take Kreuzer and a 1st for boyd, but maybe they would. Yarran's even more straightforward, not even worth talking about. I think GWS would be even less inclined to take him plus a first for Boyd. Frankly I'm over our players providing the odd nice moment or even nice game. This lot are good enough to keep us interested, but nowhere good enough to deliver anything of substance to the club. A bit of brutality at this point is in order. |
