also my favourite player of all time

the best big game Carlton player ever

he is the template we should be following in recruiting tough mid fielders

didn't have great speed or height but was always there when we needed him, never shirked an issue

By the way, is he in the Hall of Fame? I don't think he is. Disgrace.

My favourite too.

Although there's also Bruce and Kenny and Jezza and...

Still, the big number on the back of the duffel coat was a 7.

If so, better not say, "What happens on the field...".

Here's an interesting article from Caro, from 10 years ago:

Fascinating read, especially how everything fell apart in 89 under Wallsy. I think our current malaise begun around then.

Our success in 95 was via old methods and almost certain salary cap rorting (whether proven or not), which let us think all was ok and has hurt us even more in the long run.

Who would be a modern equivalent of the dominator? In terms of performing in big games, Bartel?

My favourite player....the measure of a great player is how he performs on the big stage....and The Dominator was the best big occasion player I saw at Carlton....

Not many realise that Wayne Johnston (& Jezza) re-invented himself as a player over the course of his debut season in 1979 - started off as just a half forward flanker opportunist and was considered a bit soft as well. He was thrown into a centre/mid field role and he certainly grew into it - by Grand Final 1979 no-one would have considered him soft or just a half forward flanker.

Prahran, Jezza, Premierships, 1980, Captaincy, Pain Killers, Alcohol Dependence, Women, Car Crashes, Court Appearances, Retirement, Regretting writing the autobiography, Addiction to Pethidine, Brisbane, Matt's death, Kate Kendall...and it wouldn't be a proper interview without asking about the potential father-son chances of his son Darcy who is 4.

Question is....how long is the interview?!

regretting writing the book? Why's that?

Hope Mike asks him about his rumored links to drugs and underworld figures (suspect he wont).

On League Teams last week, Parko said that he forgave him for a lot of his off field incidents because he was the best big occasion and finals player he'd ever seen. Dermie then went on to say that the Dom was a great bloke off the field, but an absolute pr*ck on it.

Because it detailed his addiction to pethidine and subsequent penchant for checking himself into hospital for unnecessary operations.

Rumored? Nah - Mike won't go there...Should probably ask him about his relationship with Ben Cousins though.

Correct Agro. In fact was dropped to the reserves during the year. Now would we contemplate doing that to say a Bryce Gibbs for eg?
