Only a few weeks until the season proper. Carlton supporters are still none the wiser on who will be captain? Do TC'ers feel that there is a lack of quality leaders at the club? One would be surely correct in thinking the silence from any of the five man leadership group does little to suggest there's a standout future premiership captain at the club?

so I take it you're at training sessions, on the ground during games, in the rooms post & pre match etc....?

Don't really care who is Captain out of the 3 candidates. I consider Kade Simpson, Mark Murphy and Andrew Carazzo all excellent leaders. I would suggest there's more leaders in the playing group now (Judd, Scotland, Jamison, Duigan, Waite included) than in the last 12 years. Healthy position to be in.

There is certainly a lot more voice out on the park these days.

I still would have had Laidler in the leadership group, but that didn't eventuate.

Good also to hear voice from the likes of Watson, Tuohy and Yarran in the back-line now.

McLean also makes for a good leader when on the park, but not so much off it.

The lack of announcement around appointing a captain is fine in my opinion. As others have noted there seems to be a marked improvement in leadership on the field and you can see it.

Whoever they choose is going to be better than Nick Maxwell.

Nothing to see here, but the announcement shouldn't be too far away. Hasn't Mick said the captain will be named in time for the last week of the NAB Cup?

Silence means to me players who really make their presence felt out on the field. Nick Duigan impresses me with the way he goes about things. I see our future captain similar in style to that of a Tom Harley/Nick Maxwell. Modern footy sees more of a spread of leaders compared to one dominant figure ala Wayne Carey/ Sticks Kernahan. We need to consider that we still have a relatively young list with players who have had little finals success. It is often not until teams have won flags that "great leaders''' praises are loudly sung.

We no longer have a young list. Last year our average age was 23.083 which ranked 10th and we were also 10th in games played with an average of 63.5...of the 8 teams below us in average games - two made the finals.

Watching an interview with Malthouse who was quizzed about the captaincy candidates I noticed a glint in his eye when he was talking about Carrots leadership qualities....That's my bet.

Good candidates and the systems that are put in place will be critical for the captain. In some respects the captaincy these days is a little over rated with leadership groups the main driver of what transpires during games. Of course leading by example is never under rated though.

A MASSIVE announcement looms in coming days. Will Mick's decision be one which will shape the new Carlton FC in a positive way...

My tip is on Carrots :)
