http://www.heraldsun.com.au/sport/afl/c ... 6672765150 Quote: The Blues are confident they will secure a deal to play up to eight games a season at the MCG when their contract at Etihad Stadium expires at the end of next season.

Great news that we have FINALLY cracked 50k But we still have a long way to go to catch up to the clubs with the biggest memberships. |

Every club does that. They 'buy' a pile of memberships off themselves to give away and it counts towards the overall number. Apparently, if you work for Westpac you can literally get a fistful of Pies memberships if you were inclined. |

Won't get excited until the deal is done and we have left that hell of a place for good. When it comes to us, I don't trust the AFL. |

I've no issue with the initiative - know someone who just joined up via it recently and is quite excited about the prospect of it. Its more that if we are giving away free memberships, are we really in a position to have a dig at pet memberships etc from other clubs? |

The crowds we draw to our games at the G should be enough incentive for the AFL to say yes to us moving there permanently. This whole thing about having to have 50 000 members to be there is bull. |

Dominator_7 wrote: This whole thing about having to have 50 000 members to be there is bull. Actually - it's not. It's about selling a message to the AFL that we are now too big a club for Etihad stadium and to please fixture us accordingly. 50,000 members and plenty more bums on seats is an easier sell than 40,000 members. The AFL don't want to be in a position where Hawthorn and Carlton are scheduled for Etihad and 20,000 can't go because it only holds 49,000. |

Very lucky to get to 50 K membership on the back of first 3 losses and a fairly average last 5 weeks -sitting comfortably outside the 8 Need to perform better to be seen as a powerhouse rather than a latter day shadow of the tigers - until that time AFL wont take us seriously |
