..consequences of being smaller/lighter than his opponents.. ..all things being equal, i would think more often than not the smaller guy comes off worse.. ..i suggest he spends the off season being repeatedly caned with some bamboo to stress his bones and have them 'fill in'.. |

I think they have just been 2 unlucky incidents. If he'd pulled out of either contest, he would have been smashed by media and supporters alike for being soft. They can call him a one way player etc etc etc, but one thing they certainly can't say is that when it's his turn to go, he puts his body on the line. To be honest, I think I'd rather have him out there next game. |

Big difference between Dangerfield's and Hodge's hit. Dangerfield was actually there first and Murph came off 2nd best. That happens, no hit in the head there, just tough footy. I've already said what I think of Hodge's and I've seen nothing that will change my mind. |

Yes he needs to change the angle he attacks the contest - his body is at 45 degrees, needs to square up. |

Maybe he didn't protect himself with his shoulder because last time he did that he copped a bad shoulder injury. |

It looked to me like he approached both contests at a similar angle. |

Nah, Hodge needs to change the way he attacks his opponents head with his shoulder and elbow. |

Damned if you do and damned if you dont Can just see it now that if Hodge the sniper does get rubbed out it will be all Murphy's fault for his 'poor' attack on the ball in that he left himself open to be hurt (anyone who thinks that this was an accident is kidding themselves) |

With the weekly Chook Lotto, I'm fully expecting anything from being cleared with high distinction (which is pretty much in progress now) to 6 weeks. |

Spot on Bomba and NT. That was no accident. I don't think he meant to break Murph's cheekbone but he definately wanted to take Murph out of the game. |

Still think Murphy is soft and his disposal by foot is unreliable. Poor ball drop. |

Poor ball drop. Cherry pick all you like, past history was conclusive. Maybe our coach had given him a message prior to the game. |

Hodge did nothing wrong in the Murphy incident. Both players put their heads down and tried to win the ball. It could just as easily ended with Hodge having a broken cheekbone (if Murphy had got there a split-second earlier). Hodge's hit on Henderson though was totally uncalled for and should be dealt with. I also think it cost us the game, as Hendo was starring until then and was pretty poor afterwards. |

cimm1979 wrote: What do you think Camel? First off, I think he is to be commended for his attack on the ball in both instances. I'd like to think the two instances were just bad luck for Murph, but they are very similar. Maybe there is something in changing his technique. Trouble is going after the ball like that is instinctive and you'd like to think all players involved were just going hard at the ball with no other thoughts. I don't think Murphy is soft. What we define as hardness has changed a little over the years, you don't need to raise your elbows in 2013 to prove that you're hard. For example, gut running is a good sign of toughness IMO. Having said all that, it's hardly a surprise that after a match against the Hawks that we're talking about a few incidents with Hawthorn players hitting Carlton players. Do you think we'll ever see the shoe will be on the other foot? |
