Heard Darren Glass on SEN and he talked about that the team didn't put in the effort and weren't MANIC - but maybe they are over the Woosha game plan
Made me think about the quote below from Malthouse

"The game structure that I delivered in October in Arizona was different to what it is now," Malthouse said after Saturday's big win.
"I had to find out, what are the playing group equipped to do? What do they enjoy? And what can they tell me about the best way they play?

I'm sure the Cats enjoy their game plan - share it around, seem to have fun and has been successful for a long time now
Ross Lyon plan is MANIC and they win - but is it sustainable, maybe if Saints won a Grand Final. Freo will be OK for a while but I believe eventually the Players will have enough
Pies without Malthouse have to find another style - so is it Coach driven?
For the Swans, obviously not - seems more a culture
Hawks have recruited players for the Clarko kicking plan, so I'm sure they "Enjoy" as they are good kicks

I certainly do my best work when I'm enjoying it

So can we be successful soon with an "Enjoyable" game plan that the team Buy In to? Even if we don't have the best list?

I hope so

Thoughts??

I've heard that we are now placing more focus on creating turnovers and turning the opposition inside out. I don't think there are many more things that can lift a team (and the crowd) than seeing one of your team mates ping an opposition player.

..turn-overs are the best way to score.. ..even a center bounce clearance, even a pure one, isn't cos everyone's at least set-up and ought to be close to their direct opponent.. ..with a turnover you catch the opposition all out of position, and with either good long kicking or footspeed, sheer pace in regards to ball movement will cut up the opposition easily..

Teams are now refining where they focus on causing the turnovers to punish the opposition to the max. Just over or around the middle of the field seems to be the spot. Too close to goal is too congested these days to get lots of good opportunities to goal. I reckon that is why our defending of kickouts is pretty loose for the first kick and then we set up for the second kick with the hope of pinching it back and blasting it forward with speed using the space in front of us to construct a goal scoring opportunity.
The swans like to pinch it back way back on the edge if not inside their defensive 50 then go nuts on the rebound.

Exciting stuff ! Very enjoyable.

Funnily enough current trends in footy suit us.

With sides pressing so much nowdays you get heaps of space quite often for runners to exploit that, being well stocked in this area of pacey goalkickers in Army, Betts, Garlett and Yaz.

So how do sides counter it? Going man on man can be done, but often our players will push out of the forward 50 to keep the space behind. If opposition keep numbers back, then they have less men around the ball.

I like how Malthouse is trying his best to work with what he has rather than fitting a game plan which doesn't work on the team.

Though I do think if he had come to this realisation prior to R1 we would be 7-3 or 8-2.

Yep and if the defenders sag off because they think attackers will get behind them then you just lower the eyes use short kicks and the hit up target and then get a nice deep 50 entry.

Attacking isnt out problem. We are scoring well enough. Need to keep the score against low. That can be enjoyable.

Such as forcing Alex Rance to kick instead of handball... you're almost guaranteed to get the pill back!
