Could Cordy then sue Essendon* for loss of earnings based on them cheating, if found guilty? It was an indirect consequence.

I'm surprised the Spew hasnt convened an emergency meeting of the AFL Commission in order to fine us $1 million and remove us from the first three rounds of the next 10 National Drafts.

I mean engaging in systemic drug cheating to gain an unfair advantage on the field of play is one thing but secretly taping conversations to try and uncover evidence to expose the skull duggery is reprehensible and unAustralian, and certainly brings the AFL into immediate disrepute.

Could Carrazzo sue Essendon* for pain and suffering he received by being tackled by a juiced up drug cheat?

If anyone listens to 3AW they would have heard Gerard Healy say this early when this story broke.
He said that many clubs had suspicions about Essendon* last year, he had told the AFL on many occasions yet they say they passed the information onto ASADA and did little else.

This is bizarre

Are there any legal issues with taping a conversation with only some parties being aware of said taping?

plenty of work ahead for Essendons hired spin doctors - the perception being portrayed that the players were all allegedly doped up to their eyeballs is fast becoming a reality in a lot of peoples minds

I've always been under the impression that recording a meeting (even covertly) for personal use and using it for your own personal affairs is exempt from any legal constraints. That's what Carlton has done here. Some media people already saying - 'I can't believe they didn't hand it over'...well - they might have been in trouble if they did. I'm sure (I sure hope) the club would have checked its legal position before the recording took place.
