A buddy of mine (and his wife) just recently had a baby at the Royal Women's hospital in Melbourne.

When they left they received a baby pack, this was 1 of the items inside - see below.

Its a good marketing ploy by Collingwood, having a dig at us and trying to recruit more members without any teeth (sorry, had to slip that one in).

Hopefully somebody from the club see's this and tries to stop it or at least add a Carlton offer....Potential members and $$ were missing out on.

Not sure if this has been raised before, apologies if it has.

Which surname do they put on the membership?

Most Collngwood mothers don't even know the name of the father.

I got a giggle out of the "Stop your kids being another Carlton supporter" line. Very clever and funny too.

Superb marketing.

My first kid was born at the Mercy at the old women's, my second at the new Mercy at the new Women's hospital in Parkville. I put down Carlton as the suburb of birth on the Birth Cert form for my second but alas they made it Parkville....

Club should have petitioned to keep the women's where it was, must hurt most oppo supporter to see they were born in CARLTON

Signed my daughter up when she was born with a baby membership.

A month later we received the baby blue certificate with her date of birth and MY name on it.

Called to complain and spoke to a girl who was very good at blaming some other dept.

A few weeks later received my daughter's baby blue cert with her name and the date in which i called to complain (not her birthday).

Couldn't be arsed calling again.

I have heard Eddie Maguire discuss place of birth at the old women's & refer to it as 'West Collingwood'

I got one too when I had my third girl a fortnight ago at Royal Womens. It was part of the baby pack they give to mothers when they move to the maternity ward. At first I must admit I was pissed but I concede it is very clever from the filthy bastards!!!

Not sure how many people they would actually sway but obviously made SFA difference to my decision making process. Although, of greater concern for me at the moment is getting my girls to even acknowledge AFL in general, let alone Carlton!

Needless to say, the offending print went straight into the bin...

Same thing happened to me with one of my kids

Other kid had last name spelled wrong even though rest of us were spelled right

Other kids certificate was folded in half twice and shoved in envelope with broken photo frame

My mate tried to do that. The rule now is that they need a birth certificate. That can take a month. By then a lot of people will lose the drive to do it.
Not my mate.

Interesting if Collingwood needs the birth cert too?? I can't see why you need it.
A Carlton baby membership can't be used to open a bank account. Seriously what's the purpose?
