Let's face it, Simmo's form this year has been down cf previous years!

What's changed. THE BEARD!! :screwy: :screwy:

It must have an unbalancing effect on his head. Let's petition him to lose the bushranger look and return to the Simmo of old !!

How about let's concentrate on the footy and not get sidetracked by hirsuteness, or facebook

Crikey, he may as well dawdle out onto the G in full "armour" toting a couple of pistols. All guns blazing!

Simpson turned the corner yesterday (noticed his beard seems to have had a trim. Maybe a sign?)

27 disposals. 7 Contested. 1 goal. 7 Inside 50s. 2 rebounds. 2 1%ers. 1 contested mark (in a game where there were fewer than 10 for the whole game). 2 tackles.

If he continues that, the next thread will be Keep The Beard Petition.

Funny, I was at the game, but don't remember many things that Simmo did. Surprised that he had high 20 possies.

Been a big supporter in the past, but he has had an average year thus far. Hopefully he can build on last night and rip the Dees a new one.

My computer's current login screen is Simmo's 'Fear the Beard' wallpaper from the clubs website.

Keep the beard !!

Last season, sliding was the bane of the AFL world. This year everyone has turned on beards. Watching TV commentators legitimately discuss the merits of facial hair in relation to a player underperforming is ludicrous.

The same logic could be applied anyone with bright boots has a bad game; or quaffed hair, baggy shorts, tattoos. As long as he pulls his finger out (as he did yesterday) I'll allow the beard.

I'm with you mjs.

He looks slower to me this year and is getting caught much more than previously.

I want him tested in a wind tunnel because I'm sure the drag coefficient of that feather-down pillow strapped to his face is very high.

Get rid of it. Besides, you look like a goose.

Ill have to refer my following thesis on Simmo's beard over to Psy for his professional psychological opinion, however (and on the disclaimer that I have NO objections to beards in general -Doc please take note  )

I suspect that the Simmo may be relying on his beard as an instrument to offset an inner sense of inadequacy- possibly a derivative of his smaller physical stature, compared to a majority of his AFL peers (which for the most part are much larger), and to which he is subsequently sub-typical. Previous to the beard Simmo appeared to compensate for his sub-typical stature by being overly large in other areas of the game ie his selfless team acts, throwing himself into as many contests as he could, never arguing on the outcome of umpiring decisions etc etc. It appears the Beard has quenched his thirst for equality with the big boys and there is no longer the same need to overcompensate via the previous use of overly large method of play.. I honestly reckon if he were to shave it off, he would again revert to relying on his on-field actions as a means of displaying his manliness.. :smoking:

Nice hypothesis Dr Freud, although it's hard to take you seriously with the moniker "Denim Undies"
You might be on to something. I think Sigmund Freud actually called this overcompensation phenomenon "beard envy"
I wanna hear what the women think of Simmo's beard. BG?
