This may seem like a small thing, but i think it shows a lot about our players mentality and selfishness.
In watching other teams over the first few rounds, what stands out to me is the closeness and mateship ( for want of a better word ) of other teams players after a big goal or a youngster doing something good for their team.
I think it was Dywer from the Pies who kicked a goal vs us, he was swamped by about 7 blokes hugging and getting around him, Sidebottom nearly dry humped him, it was genuine excitement and happiness for a fellow team member.
I saw the same sort of thing from Essendon* boys vs Freo on Friday night, a bunch of blokes working together to win games, unselfish, doing their part for the team with a selfless hunger

I honestly just dont see that with our Blues, its like a workplace, every man for himself, just going about his day to day work and taking his pay and going home.
Where is the hunger, the want to win, the desperation. Did we draft the wrong type of people ?

Skills and athleticism are one thing, hunger, desperation and not wanting to lose is another thing altogether, sadly i think we are missing this badly and im not sure its something a coach can teach, you either have it in you or you dont

I don't think they are a close group.

I think they are pretty tight around the throat - particularly at the end o quarters and games.

They're pretty loose in other areas after playing the Hawks Cats etc...

Bicycle clips are a bit superfluous when you're wearing shorts aren't they??

Lucas doesn't spend much time hanging out with his team mates.

Also, Jordan Russell was pretty good at rounding up the boys for a poker night or a table tennis tournament at his place after a 10 buck Parma

Most of the boys live around Essendon*, pascoe vale, ascot vale where as murph lives in the eastern suburbs or at his missus place in port melbourne

We have travelled & played well, the guys bond when playing interstate. Hammer said so himself today...
They've seemed to have partied well together in the past, Cruise, Vegas etc.
How was the response to Buckley's goal (Dylan was certainly gee'd up)?
Didn't they rally around Rowe the week before?
Maybe the introverted manner of our previous skipper rubbed off?

Have to agree .... they don't look like a tight bunch. Might be groups of 2 or 3 or 4 but that's about it. Quite reserved, very quiet bunch and that shows out on the field. Some don't even talk at all out there. They don't hunt in packs (or rub it in your face) like some of the other teams do. Need some of the non-leadership group guys (eg: Robbo, Scotland, Walker, McLean, AJ perhaps) to step it up a bit in that area. Carrots has been quiet but can backchat. Waite would be handy as well.

Our guys can play football ........ other teams play it just as well or better but they play it with attitude ....... we ain't got none !!

Walker is fine in that area, Robbo needs to get angry I reckon. Seems calmer these days.

1AW is usually good to go. Flew the flag last w/end and was in the thick of it vs STK last game last year.
Robbo may have been instructed to cool down following BDO.

Yeah, but nah.

Fair bit of interaction in the group and friendly banter if you stalk them on social media.

Sugar isn't afraid of teasing Judd.

They're getting around O'Keeffe after his latest setback.

Maybe you're right.

Maybe it happened when we cut a Josh Kennedy from the list when he didn't want to go.

Someone posted recently they were in the rooms before the game and sat behind the interchange bench and noticed how intraverted and lack of talk there was amongst our players.......something which is drilled into us as kids when playing in a good team.

You obviously didn't go to the game.
That's the first thing i looked for and i counted at least 8 players went to him.
Did you see when Rowe kicked his first???
Plenty got to him.
It means nothing

..i'm less concerned about congratulations for a good effort, and more concerned that we allow ourselves to get roughed up with no support.. ..has been happening for years, and will always be the give-away..
