Despite not yet racking up a win we're only one game behind the team sitting 9th on the ladder. |

A year of trying out the entire group, resolving who stays who goes, testing positional options, getting experience into those who have a long term future in related positional roles far outweighs the value of patching deficiencies to achieve "a just fall in the 8" scenario. would rather get the long term foundation right, if the result is an 8 finish all well and good, if not, all well and good. |

I'm pretty happy not to have a drug scandal hanging over the club. |

Our playing group wants to win, they appear committed in each game they play. Sure we haven't gotten over the line once yet but there has plenty of up-side in my opinion. Our coach has plenty to work with this season and beyond. While I still don't like the bloke, I have confidence in him turning our side in to one that will be super tough to beat. Making critical judgments 3 games in is just ridiculous - especially since it has been against good opposition. The tough draw early in the season will turn out to be a blessing in disguise. |

It'll be interesting once they start to gain confidence from victories. Still, the better teams kill us like they have for years and that needs to stop. |

The season isn't over, the wins will start rolling, potentially this week, then we will come into the second half of the year even ready to make an assault on the top 6 in the run home. |

Last year we were 3-0 and flying and we all know what happened in round 4 and thereafter. This year it will be the opposite. We’ll kickstart the year in round 4. It is all I’m clinging to… |

have a look at the fixture there are plenty of games still to win 19 in fact winning between 13 and 16 of them is not impossible |

If we can win this week, reckon we'll be 3-3 after the Melb game and away we go |

To be truthful, I tipped that we'd be 0-3 given the teams we were starting against, so in terms of ladder position and all that I'm not overly concerned at this stage (the way the papers are reporting it, "Mick Malthouse = 0-3", caters to the lowest common denominator as usual). I'm just annoyed that it's the same script each time, the same mental issues and mistakes, that are costing us. As soon as we get ahead, or get any sort of momentum, you just know a colossal fuck-up is just around the corner, followed closely by the opposition assaulting our goals. But despite that, we've been competitive in all three, and our best has looked scary good. The fact that we could've been 3-0 if not for those mental lapses is something to consider. Also, let's not forget that we should see a much more productive off-season this time around, with Mick no longer as hamstrung by idiotic player management and payouts to coaching staff. |

If we can punch out a win against WC it would be huge to make up for the Richmond loss. Losing to Geelong and the Pies is no biggie in my mind - we played some good footy against good teams. The purple patch in the second (?) against the Cats was stunning - the level of tacking and pressure was something I haven't seen fron the modern era Blues. It's a shame it didnt last but Geelong are a disciplined team that has been coached well for a good 5-6 years now. We need to beat Adelaide at the G in round 5. Current form would suggest that's doable. From there its possible we could win the next 5 or 6 if we beat the Dons in round 11 (MEL, STK, PA, BRIS, GWS). Its time for this group to string some games together - if they can't do it in that stretch of the draw then we're certainly done and dusted. We could be 7-3 by round 10, more likely 6-4 (same as last year after round 10, 7th on the ladder) or 5-5, which is not far off. Anything less than that and it will be tough. By round 10 if we are 6-4 or 5-5 and have given more games to Buckley, Bell, Lucas and have played Simmo, Casboult, Hampson, Laidler, Warnock into some form I would think we would be set for a good second half to the season, unlike last year. Im still expecting finals footy. |

Just have to trust that mick can deflect the media scrutiny and keep the players focused. |

I know your crazy Doc but I agree. ![]() As I stated earlier in the year if we can turn mid year 7-5 or 6-6 we have a great run home. Injuries aside I expect to be playing much better footy in the second half of the year. Looking at the draw my guess is ending up 14-8. Was it Hawthorn last year that were 1-4 at the start of the year??? |
