Sounds like a joke topic but it's not...

I watched last nights game after half time and although I understand that the bummers were awful in the first half, their second half was unbelievable and I have no doubt that they willed themselves to that victory to make a stand after a horrible week, particularly for Hird.

I compare this with the second last game of 2012 (where a finals spot was on the line), the last game of 2012 (where we should have been playing for Ratts) and the first three games this year, particularly against Collingwood where the first 10 minutes of the final qtr saw a 21 point turn around and the second quarter which also had a 20-odd point turnaround.

Culturally we are not up to it, there is no TEAM ethos, no real accountability... these are things that Malthouse had at Collingwood at the end and I hope he brings it to Carlton, but culture does not change overnight and it it a long road.

Might be booking those holidays in September after all :-)

Exactly. And who was helping out Murphy when he was getting [REDACTED] over by Taylor Hunt?
Conversely, why weren't we applying those same tactics to Selwood?
Lack of team culture, that's why.

They're on drugs, and they've played Melbourne and a pathetic Fremantle in their 3 games.

Let's see how good their culture is when 75% of their list cop 1 year bans and all their coaches get sacked.

Possible but they wanted the win and had a red hot go at every contest. Our boys just don't have the hunger.
When the opposition turn it up a notch, we just don't want to go. All 3 weeks now!!!!
How many times tonight did you see our boys refuse to put the head over the ball when it was required?

Bit early to declare the side that hasn't won a final since 2004 as a cultural measuring stick.

This.

And a side which has not win more than 11 games in a season since 2004.

Some people really do have the memory of fish.

As Buzzah mentioned there win is as meritorious as Ben Johnson's win in the 100 metre final in the 1988 Olympics, or Michelle Smiths 3 gold medals at the 1996 Olympics, or Armstrongs 7 Tour De France wins.

Pack of cheating C€%#S !!!!!

Our culture is [REDACTED]. Possibly one of the worst in the AFL, and I feel on-field, we will be exactly where Melbourne are now, in three years time, given we have no real young leaders coming through the club capable of turning it around.

Still wouldn't compare us to that lot of scum though. We're not that bad...

Quality contribution as always.

The difference between us and Melbourne at the moment is having a few players with some experience. Take out Judd, Simpson, Carrazzo, Duigan and Waite in three years time, and it looks remarkably similar to what happened when Neitz, McDonald, Robertson, Bruce, Brown etc all left in the space of a season in a half.

Lot of kids, list cloggers and players there on talent alone and very little else to offer.

... and then the magic potions wore off.

I cannot see how anyone could suggest that club has a superior culture.

Melbourne currently are arguably one of the worst teams in AFL/VFL history. To say that we'll be like them in 3 years is far from a quality contribution. Particularly when you base it on the loss of Simpson, Carazzo and Duigan.

Forget on-field performance. That's a huge gap in leadership at the club.

Who else in that 18-25 demographic looks like a future leader of the club? Let alone a walk up start in our best 22? Kreuzer, Henderson. That's about it.

We have about 10 players on our list under the age of 21. None of them have played more than 8 games, none in our best 22, several in contention for being delisted this year. Remember Melbourne's show of faith in Dunn, Gysberts, Morton, Cook? Is it any better to have such blind faith in Watson, Bootsma, Mitchell, McCarthy?

It's one thing that we have ordinary leadership at the club at the moment, it's another that we don't have another generation coming through that surpasses it.
