I find it interesting that in each of our first two games, we have kept the opposition's gun forward (Riewoldt R1, Cloke R2) goalless, yet still lost both games. I reckon if we were told before the season began that neither Riewoldt not Cloke would kick a goal against us, we would rightly have fancied our chances - but that's exactly what happened and we are 0-2 and conceded 106 from 36 scoring shots against Richmond and 117 from 32 scoring shots against Collingwood. I guess it probably tells us that Jamison has started the year very well - he was particularly good yesterday. But what does it say for the rest of the defence as a unit, or the team's defensive mentality, that we have conceded two relatively large scores despite the lack of contribution from the opposing gun forwards? |

Anyone who plays dream team would know tall forwards dont usually do well. Every now and again they spike.. but the overall pattern is theyre not what they used to be. |

Jamison has been fantastic so far. Has received no credit at all. Unfortunately, our small defenders let us down a little yesterday. Maybe the selections regarding the small backs were to blame a little. ![]() |

You don't find it at all quirky? Both Riewoldt and Cloke will be challenging for the Coleman Medal this season. Riewoldt kicked 7 the other night and Cloke killed North last week. Each is the focal point of his team's attacking arsenal. Neither did any damage to us, but we still lost and conceded big scores in both games. Something is obviously not right. |

Something is obviously not right. how many dream team points will they average??? To me thats what i go on as far as tall forwards are concerned...... they are being phased out of the game... there are less and less contested marks inside 50s and they have to contest 2 on 1s we have recognised this early and counted by having eddie as our CHF Truth is the guys who could have played CHF year s ago dont usually cut it nowadays ... and guys like Leigh Brown and Q Lynch do ok. Consider Goodes was on one leg in the GF and he held down CHF for a half.... All you need them to do is CONTEST and bring the ball to ground and punch some holes for others to move into Not many are going to kick over 50 .. and as defences sort themselves out even better.. it will get even harder/ |

I can't believe that of all people, you've been sucked in to use 'Dream Team' stats to back up your argument. That's very disappointing Synbad. |

What the big forwards do do is take away one of the key defenders. It will be interesting to see how we go against the Bulldogs who don't really have one. |

..our actual back 6 isn't as bad as the midfield makes them appear to be.. ..we don't play enough as a team, therefore the modern footy team defense isn't our bag.. ..it's why there's often a good spread of goal kickers against us.. ..doesn't matter who kicks a bag vs us and who doesn't, we just allow to many opposition players to get on the scoreboard.. |

This has often happened though. The big key forward/s gets well held and has little influence yet someone else, usually a small forward or maybe second ruck, kicks 4+ goals. Lack of good small defender is the main problem, and at times too much focus on stopping the key forward (under Ratts at least) I agree that Jamo has been very good so far this year. |

I reckon it's a good sign. We just need to tighten up our smaller defenders and we have the cattle to beat the Hawks, Saints, Eagles, Cats etc. I'd prefer that to having the key forward ream us every week. |

Kicked first three goals in both games (and maybe even the NAB Cup final too) and lost. |
