Given this happened on a Grocon site - I would be very disappointed if the club doesn't honour the memory of these people. My deepest sympathies go out to both families. How many times I have waited for my children to meet me at the football and they have met me safely - we now all realise we are all only a micro-second away from such a tragedy. It doesn't bear thinking about. |

My personal feeling is that black armbands should be worn only for the passing of servants of the club and circumstances like Jarrad McVeigh when the Swans all wore them following his daughters death. That might be unpopular opinion, but you have to draw the line somewhere. A notice on the website and an obituary notice in the paper is sufficient IMO. |

Unfortunately, footy fans probably die in tragic or premature circumstances too often, can't expect clubs to honour them all. Dare I say it, not sure it would mean much to many of the players anyway. A tribute on the banner would be nice. |

it would be a classy thing to do, wouldn't exactly set a precedent either, unless someone else gets hit by a wall on the way to a game |

I know where you are coming from there Doc and yes I agree that it could set a precedent. Where this situation may be a little unique is that they were on the way to the MCG to meet their father and this happened. |

Yes I agree that is an important distinction which makes a difference to the point that Doc raises. |

I tend to agree with Doc's position, but I wouldn't hold it against the club if they did do it. Maybe they should be commemorated on the banner instead. And it would make a far better banner than "Carlton and Hyundai: A winning team", or a lame poem. |
